Now that macOS Tahoe is out, I’m curious what everyone thinks about the new Liquid Glass effect in the UI and those super curved windows.
Are you eager for all apps to adopt this new look? Should Elements follow suit sooner rather than later?
Personally, I’m not totally sold on the oversized curves and floating sidebar. It’s growing on me, but it still feels like it needs a fair bit of refinement.
I have a test machine with Tahoe installed on it, but for my day-to-day work, I’m still running Sequoia on my main machine. This is the first year I’ve not been running the new system from day one…
Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on Tahoe, have you upgraded yet, or are you holding off?
Not a fan. The shapes don’t bother me. The rearranged placement of all the normal tools is inconvenient but muscle memory will be retrained in time. The lack of contrast is not useful at all. Hopefully something that will be fixed in the future. Then again I have issues with the contrast in Elements so there’s that.
If you adopt the L&F does it take up more real estate? Is it just changing the shapes. There is a lot going on with the interface in Elements. Making the amount of mouse travel and scrolling even more would be unfortunate.
Normally a late updater to anything. If it works leave it alone was always my motto. Very annoyed at myself for clicking the update on my phone and getting OS26. A number of things make my phone less easy to use now and I wish I could turn it back.
Not updating to Tahoe in a rush given I suspect some of the ‘improvements’ will be aligned with the iPhone and make it less user friendly. This seems to be the case after watching a few videos about Liquid Glass so I think I will give it a miss.
In general I like it but it was not worth the hype. I am as you @dan not totally sold on the design and yeah for me it is a somehow unnecessary change.
Would be better they would have spent their resources on improving their system. Apple once was famous for their stable eco-system. But thats long time gone. Today I have continuous connecting issues with carplay and my iPhone, SSDs that getting ejected automatically, Maps App who is guiding me wrong etc., etc.
Apple is on a descending innovation curve. Only marketing bling, bling and a very low amount of innovations with real value for the users.
