Great to be here. I’ve been using Rapid Weaver for years. I’m currently on 8.
I’ve run into a problem. 4 Months ago, I changed my website Host to Hostinger (my old host got too greedy after 10years) & I ran into a problem… Websites built with Rapid Weaver do not upload on Hostinger. It’s their website builder or WordPress! If I had known that in the beginning I would not have hosted with them! But… I’m stuck. What can I do?
Hi @ddh,
The first question that comes to mind is why doesn’t it work?
I’ve not worked with Hostinger before, but looking at the services that they offer, standard webhosting is part of the package. So at first glance at least, it’s not just their website builder and WordPress hosting, unless they’re being sneaky and hid this limitation away it in their terms.
Normally, you’d upload websites you designed yourself (in RapidWeaver or other authoring environments) using something like FTP (very old and insecure), SFTP or FTPS. In some very rare cases, you’re limited to a terminal session and need to upload over SSH - but that’s VERY rare.
So my first advice is to contact them, and tell them that you have a website on your local machine that you need to upload over either FTP, FTPS or SFTP and have them give you the required credentials to do that. This includes a server address (and usually port number), a path, a login ID and a password.
If you don’t mention “RapidWeaver”, you won’t get sucked into a discussion on how certain packages are supported or not - sometimes this is just an excuse to put the blame of it not working on something else than themselves.
In the end it doesn’t matter which tool you used to build a site. The end result is always a set of folders and files which need to be uploaded to a certain directory on a webserver, whether you used RapidWeaver, DreamWeaver, Blocks or went nuts with a text editor and “HTML for Dummies”.
All they need to do, is provide you with a place to put those folders and files.
If all else fails, call them out on their lack of service and try to terminate your contract with them.
Chillidog is a provider that knows RapidWeaver through and through, and doesn’t cost an arm or a leg. Give them a try if things don’t work out with Hostinger.
Cheers,
Erwin
I have mentioned this before. I have used Hostinger for 4 years now and never had one issue, uploading directly or indirectly to them. If you contact them, you should be able to get help in resolving your issues, as they helped out on my initial install.
