Trying to Understand Resources

I ran into an issue today with resources, so I would like to understand more about how they are managed.

For context, I was forced to move all of my sites from my main hard drive to an external drive yesterday. I was not expecting this to create any problems, but it has with one of my sites.

When I opened the site to make some changes, several images were missing. The strange part is that the pictures were all in the resources, but were not displaying on the page. Re-applying them from the resources made no difference. The only way I could repair them was to drag the images from the Finder again.

All of these are WebP images, in case that makes a difference.

So my question: does Elements remember where the images came from, or are they independent once added to a project?

I had assumed when they were added to a project they were independent of the original source.

Is it a problem to move a project from one location to another?

I would have assumed not, as everything resides inside the project. None of these were remote resources. I long ago gave up on trying to use remote resources, as it was too painful to manage.

Everything is inside the project, so they are fully portable. You are free to move them around without worry

This sounds like a temporary glitch (and the resources are inside the file), did you try restarting Elements?

Also, if you still have a project showing the missing images, could you upload it to Elements Cloud and share the link with us so we can find out what’s going on and fix it. Thanks!

@dan I did try restarting a couple of times, but it did not seem to fix the problem.

Unfortunately, I needed to get it back up and running, so I fixed the problems, and I don’t have a project that shows the problem. If I reencounter it, I will upload a copy before making any changes. Sorry.

The unusual aspect of the problem is that it only occurred on one page; all the other pages remained intact. Very odd.
