@dan I seem to be constantly battling the typography component in Elements. It has a number of quirks that make it confusing to use and understand.
One of my main problems (which I finally solved) was when dealing with typography on a dark background. Because the component does not have a color setting (yes I know it gets the color from the theme settings) I had been selecting the text and using the inline color setting. This caused all kinds of problems with text replacement (I use both Text Expander and Grammarly) where when some text was replaced it would be replaced in the color from the theme settings. After that the only way you could reset the color was to select ALL of the text and reapply it in the inline editor. So you could not do text replacement within some text that had been inline colored.
I subsequently figured out that the correct approach was to have separate theme settings for light and dark backgrounds (I’m not talking about light and dark modes) with the appropriate colors. That way when text was replaced the colors stayed unaffected,
The other problem with typography is that it frequently becomes STUCK in the inline editor. There ends up being no way of getting back to any other settings. The only way I figured out to get out of this stuck state is to switch to another page and then back to the one I’m working on, then it becomes unstuck.
The final problem is that the typography component occasionally FORGETS the settings I have chosen and reverts to the ARTICLE settings. This is easily rectified but it means I have to keep checking to ensure the right choice is active.
