Build 8 of fleXon 2 is here, and this time it’s all about navigation. I have completely reworked the Navigation segment – it now has 36 templates instead of 15. That gives you much more flexibility when you design your website.
Some of you asked for simpler menus – and you were right. I always thought plain menus weren’t needed, but that was developer thinking. For beginners, they’re often exactly the right start.
A question I hear a lot from beginners: “How do I get social icons into my menu?” fleXon has the answer – several navigations come with social icons ready to use, right in the menu bar, in a top bar above it, or in the side panel. Just pick one and swap in your own links.
What’s new in this build:
21 new Navigation sections, including several simple menus
The 15 existing Navigation sections are revised and sorted into the new order
Enhancements for List Items and Social Items
Navigations you have already placed on your pages are not affected. Templates are copies, so nothing changes there.
1. 20% off until Sunday
As some of you may have already noticed, fleXon 2 is currently 20% off until Sunday. So if you’ve been thinking about getting it, now is a great time.
2. A big update to the fleXon Preview
I’ve finally made a change to the preview that I’ve been planning since the very beginning but never found the time to implement. Have a look and let me know what you think
3. New build coming soon
A new build of fleXon 2 is already in the works and only a few days away. It will add more design templates and, of course, it’s a free update for all existing users. Stay tuned!
Unfortunately, there’s no direct upgrade path from fleXon to fleXon 2. However, there is a way that has worked well for my existing customers who switched to version 2. I’ll send you a PM in a minute.
If anyone else is interested in upgrading from fleXon to fleXon 2, please let me know here or send me a PM.
NEW BLOG – Getting Started with fleXon 2 – From Empty Page to Complete Layout in Minutes
Dear Elements Weavers,
Something I wanted to do for fleXon 2 right from the start was a proper, well-written guide: how to use fleXon 2 – and how to use the live previews on an external website while you design. It took a while, but now I finally got to it. On my website you’ll find a new blog with a detailed step-by-step guide.
What you’ll find in the guide:
Where to find the fleXon 2 library in Elements after your purchase
Building a complete page step by step – navigation, hero, content, contact section and footer
A tip for adding design templates faster and more safely
Changing the look of your page with an Elements theme
How to use the fleXon preview site next to Elements to find the right design template
Where to find the included project files
All screenshots are stored in Gallery Pro galleries. So if you read the guide on a small screen, just tap a picture and it opens in a lightbox at full size.
And a little side note for all of you who build blogs with Elements: normally a blog post is one long Markdown text, and you can’t place any components inside it. For this blog I used two of my own components – ShortCodes to put the Gallery Pro galleries right into the text, and Table of Contents for the clickable outline next to it. So the blog itself is a live demo of both.
