Using the Elements Form on GoDaddy hosting? No thanks

Just spent a couple hours on a Zoom call with a customer trying to wrangle their form settings on GoDaddy to get it working.

In the process found out GoDaddy upsold him on their paid Microsoft Office 365 email product which he didn’t really need, because his web hosting account came with free email accounts that work fine for using with the form in Elements.

Anyway working in their control panel is maddening, they bury information in a labyrinth of pages. I told him if he was looking for a new web host, give Chillidog Hosting a try because shit just works there (@barchard @LaPan).

We couldn’t get the form working during the Zoom call, but the customer gave me FTP access to a subdomain so I could upload a test site and test various settings to see if I could get it working.

Finally got the form working on GoDaddy, and in that time, the customer had already ordered a hosting account at Chillidog Hosting, uploaded his site, and started his domain name transfer process lol. He said it was crazy easier than GoDaddy.

For now the domain name transfer is in progress so the website is still on GoDaddy at the moment, but at least the form is working, and it will def work at Chillidog once domain/DNS transfers over because their hosting doesn’t suck.

Anyway just a rant/PSA about hosting with GoDaddy, highly don’t recommend it. :face_exhaling:

Wow, that’s really bad, but it sounds about right. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anything good about GoDaddy :face_vomiting:

Thanks for the support, recommendation, and acknowledgment. It’s humbling and greatly appreciated. @LaPan and I work hard to make Chillidog something special

Your top dog,

Never touch 123Reg or go daddy as so much bad against them and 123Reg prices are extortionate. Theres only been one for me for years CHILLIDOG and Greg and team give the best support if required.(@barchard)

Might take a look at DreamHost. I had problems and they solved it quickly, needed a open source forum installed- they did it for FREE - amazing

The three year intro rate is amazing- think it was $180??? Unlimited bandwidth unlimited storage and ssd usage… free email accounts - no limits or charges

The only possible snag is that after the intro rate it goes to the ‘current’ pricing level - which I believe is $10 now…

Still a deal when compared to others… shared hosting 15+ websites…
