Dear Sirs, I have two questions. I am rebuilding an old page created with RW8 in Elements.
1 When using the video component with autoplay set to “immediately” or “when in viewpoint” and publishing the page, it works perfectly only in Safari. In Chrome and Firefox, the video does not start. Is there a way to get round this problem?
2 When scrolling through a video set to “When in viewpoint”, is there a way to pause it when it is not visible?
3 One more question: whilst publishing, I discovered that I have to set the backup to ‘never’, otherwise the site often freezes and I have to force quit.
Thanks for your help; I’ve been using Elements for a few days and perhaps it’s because I’m not very experienced.

I’m wondering if those browser’s are specifically blocking autoplay? Can you check your browser settings? Although I think some browsers automatically block auto-play..
We’d have to take a look at your project file, can you share it via Elements Cloud so we can test on our end?
Hi Dan, thanks for your reply. I tried creating a test file with a video that appears when scrolling (when it’s in the viewport).

On Safari, both mute and unmute work; on Chrome, only unmute works. What I like to know is whether it would be possible, once the video leaves the screen, to automatically pause it and restart it when it reappears.
Is there a third-party video component that works this way? Is there a way to do this, or are you planning any future updates in this regard?
Thanks for your help; I’m continuing to learn and slowly migrating the old pages to Elements, which I really like.
See you soon
Aldo
