Web server not displaying pages

This is what my site at biz-bots.ai looks like after the latest update was posted about 20 minutes ago.

Hi @rfha,

I’ve looked at https://biz-bots.ai and it appears to be built with Foundry, not Elements.

Your link to the elements project appears to open just fine — Is there an issue with it?

Let me know what’s wrong and I’m sure we can help out

I’ve just taken another look at your project and I can see it as some orphaned/recovered components in it, I’ve gone an head and tided it up for you.

Click here to Open the fixed project in Elements.

Elements is just tidying up the document and putting any orphan nodes it finds at the top of the page. These can safely be deleted, and you can carry on working on your project.

Thanks Dan,

Your help is much appreciated. I’m a little confused, however, about the Foundry versus Elements thing. I’ve been working in Elements??? Do I need to do anything?

Also, I’m getting this error on opening a project: Couldn’t start the internal web server on 127.0.0.1:1024. What do I do about that?

Nope, you’re all good.

Restart your Mac and you should be back up and running after that!

Me again. The fixed version of biz-bots.ai works now, but when I publish, it only the homepage goes to my server. Nothing else is published.

The publishing set up works fine and tests clean. I’m using Elements 1.0.4.

Thanks, we’re looking into it and will let you know if we need any more information to fix this,

In the meantime, here’s a download link to version 1.0 to get you back up and publishing.

I hate to say it, but it still doesn’t work. The homepage shows and everything else gets a 403 error.

Richard

Hi @rfha,

Those 403’s mean that the access rights haven’t been set properly in your hosting environment. You’ll notice that the error was generated by Lightspeed (your host) and not Elements.

If you log into your host’s control panel, you can check which directories on the server are marked as to not be visible to a visitor.

Cheers,
Erwin

Hi Erwin,

Hi!

Did you mean to type something?

Cheers,
Erwin

Yeah, I did. Don’t know what happened to what I said, but..

Anyway, the logs show nothing and all the permissions are correct at 0755 and 0644. I removed a few files that referred to foundry where I had first started building the site. I published again but still get the 403 on all but the homepage.

Regards,
Richard

This really sounds like a server issue…

I’d recommend logging in to your FTP server, and checking the files are in place. Let us know how you get on with that.

Took a couple of days off to breathe. Since then, I have created a couple of pages from the site, well almost. Anyway, when I publish the site it goes through the routine of publishing 2000+ files and directories. Then it gives me an error. It says, “Multiple index files found on your server”, and that can cause problems. The site is set to use PHP as are those two pages, so I’m totally confused about the error. And when I look at the site with FTP. There’s nothing there. Absolutely nothing, but a folder containing the name of the site.

I’ve uploaded my local file to the cloud elementsapp://downloadDocument/2ptPX5OO088m

I might be wrong but it looks like both pages are called index.php and are trying to publish to the same folder? I can see the URL is different but does that make it publish to a different folder/directory?

Yes it does, Elements will automatically generate a folder structure that matches the page layout you have set up in the project.

Can you post a screenshot showing the contents of the directory where you’re publishing to? During publish, Elements will check to see what files exist on the server and shows this error message if an index.html file and an index.php file have been found in the same location.

After Elements says it has published over 2000 files, there is absolutely nothing in the biz-bots.ai directory on my server. Nothing.

That’s really strange, can you make sure you have the right publishing destination selected in the Publish dropdown menu. Also, double check the publishing settings, especially the path. You should be able to click “Browse” at the end of the path field to confirm it’s publishing to the correct location.

Can you email me a brand new copy of the latest version of Elements? I am totally frustrated with what has been going on with what I have. I am willing to give it one more chance and rebuild the site from scratch. If that doesn’t work, I’ll just have to find another platform to work with because this one has done nothing for me yet, and I’ve wasted a huge amount of time, as well as the cost of the package.
