I’m a long-time user and lover of RapidWeaver Classic, but know it’s time to move to Elements.
In my current RW Classic v8 environment I have outdated Stacks (Foundry, which I LOVED!) and PlugIns. What I’d like to know is, what am I going to miss about Classic that I won’t be able to replicate in Elements?
I moved to Elements a little over a year ago and haven’t looked back. I don’t miss Classic at all. In fact, when I do have to edit a website in Classic that I haven’t migrated yet, I think to myself, “How did I ever work in this day after day?” Not that Classic was bad, it’s just that Elements is soooo much better. I’d say if you were going to miss anything, it would have to be very niche stacks that you may have purchased over the years for very specific things.
I was a long-time user for RW Classic also. A lot what @ajenks wrote fits also to me. At the beginning I thought I would miss this and that. We have to be honest, RW Classic is a very mature system and it was great for its time. But after a while I recognised it was very little overall what cannot be done in Elements and there is really not a lot what I am missing.
Some things you have to do in a different way and some things need a re-thinking, but often this is a good thing to get rid of the old stuff.
