What will be the reason that crawlability of the website is slow?

Hi, I am running a website but the crawlability of the website is quite low. The Google bot hasn’t visited about 2 months on some of the services pages. What can be the possible issues with the website.

Hi @AnthonyMiller,

Well, a whole list actually. But which one it is, is hard to tell with the information you’re giving us

What does Search Console say? Does it give a reason?
Have you set up the sitemap to only visit each page once a year, or never?

If you post the URL to your site, we can have a look if we can see anything from this end. You yourself could take a good look at Google Search Console, and see if it mentions anything.

Cheers,
Erwin

updating your content just a little every month probably helps - change up the paragraphs, add a little extra content, then generate a new sitemap and upload that. search engines like to see fresh content

@Heroic_Nonsense Thanks. Yeah I have connected website with Google Search Console. But still there is a slow crawlability on the website.

This is my website: thejobhog.com

And how can I check that if I set up the sitemap to only visit each page once a year, or never?

Are you referring to robots.txt file?

I am updating the content but the services page crawling is slow.

No, I’m referring to the sitemap file, which is normally generated by RapidWeaver.

It looks like you use a service called Yoast to generate sitemaps instead. If you look at this link:

https://thejobhog.com/sitemap_index.xml

… and click on the second link fro mabove (“page-sitemap.xml”), you’ll see this:

https://thejobhog.com/page-sitemap.xml

That last one lists all the pages on your site and when they were last updated.

The question now is, which sitemap (if any) is listed in Google Search Console?

Cheers,
Erwin
