Music teacher here. Can’t make the jump to Elements until this is implemented unfortunately. Absolutely must be able to do playlists as well as single tracks. Personally don’t care about embedding since storing files locally is not generally a problem but I’m sure many would like the ability to reference a track from anywhere.
Autoplay would be nice as would downloading buttons. PLAYLISTER by the now defunct Stacks4Stacks was the gold standard for me. PlayLister Stacks Addon by Stacks4Stacks
As a big user of audio on our choir rehearsal site, like @Jeffhrsn, I currently use Playlister and love the range of features it has.
Not so worried about autoplay but download button, playlists as well as single tracks, ability to load both locally and from other sources are all essential for me.
Being able to add artwork or poster would be handy.
I’ve also been using the Playlister Stack in Rapidweaver and would like something along similar lines. The ability to embed SoundCloud and Spotify songs would also be important. The more flexibility in the design, the better. It could range from a simple one track slim player to a player that incorporates playlists and related images. Thank you for getting onto this!
I am pretty open to what an Audio player should offer. Guess when you are asking 10 people you are getting 11 opinions.
Therefore I would like to have it pretty flexible. Maybe something like the Elements Form components. So you have a pure player, then maybe an additional playlist, an additional image, a button etc.
That would give me the possibility to add a simple player and extend it whenever needed.

Should it support playlists or just single tracks?
I think both should be supported. I sometimes have a need for one or the other on various websites.
Would you want custom styling options?
For me, it’s not necessary, but it would be nice to match colors with the site’s colors at the very least.
How important is embedding from services like SoundCloud or Spotify?
It is not important to me as I plan to host my own audio. However, if someone needs to embed audio from a streaming service such as Spotify, Apple Music, or similar, they already offer embeddable players themselves.
Do you need autoplay, loop, or download buttons?
For me, loop would be helpful at both the track level and the playlist level.
Anything else?
If there’s a way to prevent right-clicking and viewing the actual source code to protect the file source, that would be great.
