Made a small update to my webpage, and now all of the photos in 13 years of blog pages are gone! I can still see the gallery photos, and the photo on the first page, but others are suddenly gone.
I’ve been trying to find a way, on a non-stacks page, to password protect the blog. Working through my Chillidoghosting cPanel, I enabled Directory Privacy just for the blog page. After that, I kept getting a 404 not Found error after entering UID and password. ElementsBot told me to ensure that I had an index.php page for the direct to land on. So I did (my blog page). No change. So I changed the index.php back to index.html. Then all of my photos were missing.
I’d upload my file, but don’t know how to, or even if I can, with a RWC project. Ideas? I’ve got 12 or 13 years of blog entries…
Thanks Greg. I THINK that my efforts to enact directory privacy only on my blog and calendar pages, and this issue of my photos disappearing may well be related. (The blog that i’m using on RWC is the original RW system-included blog - this wasn’t done with php. The only page in that website that DOES legitimately use php is the gallery.)
I noticed that after enabling directory privacy for the blog page on cPanel, I could no longer access the page at all on-line: always entered the UID and Password, then received a “404 Not Found” ERROR.
Talked to elementsbot here on the forum, it suggested that there must be an index.php page to land on after the password prompt.
I think that then, when I went to the inspector panel on the blog page, found index.html as the filename under meta data, simply changed “html” to “php”, the problem started. Also, I STILL received the 404 error.
Later, when I changed it back, (simply by typing .html over the .php in the inspector panel for the page) re-published - my photos were all gone.
As Mathias suggested, I’m thinking (hoping) that the photos are still there, but inaccessible to the page.
So, two issues to solve;
re-connect my blog photos somehow
(the original goal) implement page / Folder specific privacy security on the blog and calendar pages in my project, WITHOUT requiring multiple login attempts during the login session. (I successfully entered the User/Password, only to have it immediately ask for them again - up to 4 or 5 times back to back, saving the login info each time. When I finally cancelled and gave up, voilá! I was in. Weird!
