Will a Cookies Notice be built into ELEMENTS?

Hi there,
just wonder if a Cookies Notice will be build into ELEMENTS?

Maybe… and I’m now wondering if this would be a good thread to start asking what users would like to see in a Cookie Notice…

So on that note, what does the perfect cookie notice in Elements look like? What features are a must?

Let us know!

As a user, I like a single click option to ignore non-essential cookies. I don’t like having to navigate to a Cookie Settings window then deselect a bunch of options.

I’d say anyone who clicks on cookie settings probably wants them all disabled.

I use one called biscuit box 3 in my classic site…it gives an option in the settings to when you accept cookies they won’t pop up agin for a specific time 1 day up to 365 days…brilliant idea that is

That sounds like a good idea!

You’d get your wish as that would absolutely guarantee I never visit your site.

If I may ask, what is so important you’d require cookies?

@dan Hi, To meet the GDPR at least, it would be necessary to be able to indicate the types of cookies used, a deactivation selected by type for the visitor, the possibility of personalizing the message(s) displayed in the lightbox in order to warn the visitor of what may cause problems for him (like flashing image, type of content…). There are so many scenarios that I think this is typically an opening for third-party add-ons, no?

Just a cookie notice @dan? Or a complete cookie management mechanism?

If the former: just a banner with a dismiss button and the ability to link to a privacy policy is enough.

If the latter: an if-then mechanism to load content on the site based on the acceptance of (a) cookie(s) or not by the visitor, and of course a banner with the ability to have the user accept or decline them. An extra option on the container element would be fine for managing if content should be loaded or not.

I usually build cookie settings pages myself (like this one on my personal site: Privacy Settings : Bartons on the Web), currently of course using Stacks, but we’d need something like this in Elements too for our projects to be GDPR compliant.

Cheers,
Erwin
