Will the link to the Marketplace be available again on the forum?

Good catch, we’ve just added an extra point to make it clear we won’t resell your addon after you’re gone!

  • If your contributor account is terminated, we will stop selling your Assets immediately. Existing customers will retain the licenses they already purchased, but no further sales of your Assets will be offered.

keep the feedback coming

Just had a little chat-jippity, now I’m off to the bookies :joy:

:pushpin: My realistic prediction for this store

20% is the most probable number.
25% is possible.
30% is possible only if they’re following major-market norms without adjusting for scale (but would be a strategic mistake for them).

If I had to bet:

:star: 20%

Thank you for taking time to explain and be transparent.

The store seems really fair and good to developers.

It’s very hard to run a business and try to keep everyone happy with their products and policies.

So try - imho - to give Dan and Ben some slack….

I learned a long time ago… from teaching - some people (kids) will not like you - no matter what you do….

That’s a bit of a kicker for me also, being a Channel Islands resident (No VAT), but you as the seller have to take the VAT also.

We sooo need to move and set up shop in the Channel Islands :squinting_face_with_tongue:

Just curious as to what happens with your Apps you sell on the App Store?

I get stung for the 20% tax. Actually, I “think” they take tax at the buyers locale. Of course there system isn’t good enough not to charge me VAT at the UK rate when I buy anything from Apple.

I think for digital services the VAT or sales tax is usually based on the buyer’s location, not the seller’s. Other types of sales can follow different rules but I’m not a tax expert.

In practice the seller is responsible for collecting and sending the correct tax where required. In short, we charge VAT or sales tax based on the buyer’s location, not ours. That’s also what you should be doing if you’re selling direct, although the thresholds vary by region. This is why many developers use services like Paddle or Fastspring since they handle all of it.

Yes, So if I shop on Amazon, they know I’m a Channel Islands resident, and remove the VAT at checkout.

Correct! But, if you are selling it’s a different story (see above).

Yep, sellers are supposed to collect VAT / Sales tax, based on the buyers locale, and submit all those returns to all the jurisdictions that have been sold to, Absolute nightmare.

Yup, that’s why we’re handling all that for developers that ship products on the Elements Store

@dan Thank you for all the information and for the answers you have given us, it gives me the opportunity to answer you comprehensively, without having to go into too much detail on the individual questions.

These last two years have taught everyone the true importance of promotion and commercial communication in software development, and RM Sis a master at this and can teach others as well.

My primary goal is to provide continuity to my Classic customers today by being able to offer immediate solutions. This is because I believe they will be able to trust me and Elements for the next 15 or 20 years.

My contribution, like that of all other developers, goes beyond the financial gain that can be gained from this and is based on communication and trust.

To be able to provide this to our customers, we need to be able to operate in a friendly environment where trust is mutual.

Your work on the Store is fantastic and every software house dreams of improving their service. The real thing that will change the opinion of other developers in the future is the ability to let them try live components (this applies to components), and this is truly a gain change.
Beyond this, the responsibility of supporting a customer still falls on the developer, so my suggestion is to look for serious and willing people who want to get started with Elements by offering them all the necessary tools.

I have several components ready for the Store, but to continue dedicating all my time to Elements, I would like to have time to evaluate things and have time for a sustainable economic transition. Changing business model and payment management is a delicate matter.

Furthermore, it should be specified what happens if the developer leaves. I had to remove three products from my catalog because the core libraries are no longer supported, something that has happened over the years to other products, such as Google Maps. A developer has responsibilities as long as the product exists.

I’ll conclude by congratulating you on the work you’ve done . I’ve already started recommending Elements to other designers, and they’ve followed my advice. I’d like to continue doing so with peace of mind, and I’m thrilled at the idea of being able to publish products in the store, under the right conditions.

BTW, I want the team jersey, don’t make me sit on the bench! :soccer_ball:

Peace & Love
