Will the link to the Marketplace be available again on the forum?

As per the title, I know the launch of the new integrated store is imminent, and I’m looking forward to publishing the components I’m working on.

I would like to know if the Project Marketplace will continue to be supported, and if RapidWeaver will still support project developers, and not just component creators.

I have a fantastic new Project LANDER in review, a project to create sites in the real world, to make the most of the elements of continuity with classic, and it would be a shame not to be able to make more.

If the Marketplace link disappears from the forum, it would signify the definitive death of democratic design and the end of support for existing RapidWeaver Classic customers. These users not only import Projects, but they also need Classic themes to use in Element.

Does all my work porting free themes still make sense? I’m working on two more.

Clear information for me, for everyone who sells on the store, and for all interested users would be greatly appreciated.

@dan Thank you!

And most importantly, will the Marketplace link still be available on the forum?

I totally agree with your whole post! Clear informations and communications upfront to a drastically change for developers and users would be more than welcome!

That was the strength of the Elements development through the whole Beta phase.

As you know Elements is moving fast, and we’re a small team. We don’t have someone dedicated to public/developer relations who can stay on top of communications, unfortunately that’s just the way it is. Until we can grow the business and hire more staff you’ll have to just bare with us. We’re doing our best

Projects will be able to be distributed inside of an Elements Pack on the built-in Store. You’ll then have your products in front of ALL Element users. This is going to be HUGE!

All add-ons will be distributed through the Elements Store, so eventually the Marketplace will be going away and replaced with a new front-end listing for the Store (the web front-end is mainly for SEO, we expect most users to browse and find addons in app when they need them).

Yes, it’s back for now. We’ll be switching this out for a link to the Elements Store at some point in the future…

You can learn more about the Elements Store at the link below. Please note these details are preliminary and being updated as we move closer to launch, so keep an eye on them

Component!

Hello @MultiThemes

Thank you for this message and for sharing your excitement about the new integrated store. We’re incredibly eager to see components like yours published there as well—it’s a big step forward for the community.

I like your website :clap::clap::clap:

Your work on free themes is crucial. I’m also launching a free project soon because a rich, free library is vital to help everyone achieve their website goals. Please keep going.

Thank you again for your passion and for building such creative tools for RapidWeaver users.

@Doobox awesome, I’m looking forward to seeing all the wonderful third-party components ship on the Elements Store :star_struck:

HI @dan and thanks for the clarification.
I already understood how components work, but it would be helpful to have more information about projects, as they’re different, and projects can also contain other custom components.
I haven’t yet figured out if it’s possible to preview the entire project, like components.

What about the Classic marketplace? Once it’s ready, will the Elements built-in store be completely eliminated? How will Classic users continue to search for resources?

Thanks

Hi @dan, my latest project, “wonder,” is still under review after 2 days, but yesterday was approved another free project of mine.
Is the marketplace online now only available for free products?

Online visibility is very important and should go beyond profit-driven considerations, so that developers can no longer advertise products via links, even just display their own page.

Clear information about what you want to do would be helpful.
If you delete the store, you’ll also lose your Google indexing. What alternatives do you offer to make products visible “outside” of Elements just as effectively?

I understand that everything that plays for elements goes through the internal store (I and the other developers are waiting to read the commercial contract and the intellectual property rights of the products).

So I have a clear question for you: Will RMS allow products for elements that aren’t integrated into the internal store?

These are questions I need answers to be able to continue working peacefully, I love elements, and I’m working to promote elements and support the transition from classic (which is officially supported but all its resources will be deleted)

peace & love :peace_symbol: :person_in_lotus_position:
thanks!

That are I think for every developer the core points and I am a bit dissapointed that the Marketplace started without giving any information’s to developers upfront or in minimum having some answers at the time of introduction.

For me the most important point is the handling of the VAT/Sales Tax. I am at Fastspring which are offering the correct tax handling for small developers. How will the marketplace handle this? Without proper tax handling, I’m out. I can’t do it myself, and you don’t want to mess it up.

Also it was not the nicest move to open a marketplace and starting only with own products which partly compete with the offering of some 3rd parties. Saying in the video that 3rd party developers will be handled equally then sounds like a joke.

I really like the technical side of the new marketplace and see the potential but how it was introduced is in minimum questionable.

It will be what it will be. I only have one burning question, the elephant in the room. How much is it going to cost us? Per sale? Monthy subscription?

Oh I forgot that one :innocent:
Probably it will be a free service therefore nobody mentioned it

I missed this one. It’s approved now. Sorry for the delay. If this happens again, just email me directly. It’s faster than posting on the forum.

We’re building something big, and we’re shipping in stages. The Store will have a public web front that supports proper SEO. We know what needs to be done, but one step at a time…

Let’s not overcomplicate it or get all conspiratorial. Anything you build and sell remains your intellectual property. The only caveat (and it’s a good one for everyone in the community) is that we will store your products (even if you close up shop and walk away), so that customers can ALWAYS re-download the products they have purchased.

You can sell Projects directly, but customers lose a long list of benefits, including and not limited too:

  • Access all previous purchases instantly by signing into your Elements Cloud account.
  • Automatic download and installation of products.
  • No need to manually back-up or track purchases.
  • Instant in-app product Updates.
  • All purchases are securely stored in your Elements Cloud account.
  • Ability to re-download purchased products even if the seller is no longer in business.
  • Seamless product trials (Coming soon).

Dev Packs must go through the Store so they can be compiled and encrypted into proper distributable packs.

Distributing your add-on via the Elements Store comes with a host of benefits. Here’s what included:

  • Seamlessly build and publish add-ons inside of Elements.
  • Storage and distribution of your add-on.
  • Encryption and secure delivery to users.
  • Instant, and secure update system.
  • Secure licensing system, allowing only those that have purchased your add-on to use it.
  • Your add-ons appears inside the Elements app, directly in front of every user.
  • Users get demo access to your product and can buy when ready (planned feature)
  • The users Elements Cloud account keeps track of their purchased add-ons. As a developer you won’t have to manage support for users having issues installing or re-downloading addons. We take care of it all.
  • If a user opens a project that contains a component they don’t have, we will prompt them to purchase or download a trial from the store.
  • Elements Platform Ltd is the merchant of record, so we handle refunds, and paying taxes, etc.

We’re the merchant of sale, so we take care of VAT and sales tax for you. It’s one of the many things we’re still setting up, so hence no third-parties on the store yet…

It’s a percentage per sale, similar to the App Store or Steam.
Free products are free to distribute on the store, including components, resources, etc…

Correct. Free products don’t incur any fees

@MultiThemes @WeaverPixel @Doobox
Have a read through the docs below. If anything’s unclear or missing, tell me and we’ll tighten it up, these are a work-in-progress:

We’re a small team working flat out to build an excellent platform. We won’t get every detail perfect on day one, but we’re pushing hard to make this the best possible ecosystem for everyone building with Elements.

The Store and Elements Cloud are a core part of that vision.

We have so much good stuff to come, it’s unreal. We hope you’ll stick around to ride this brave new future with us

Right, I need to get back to it… we’ve got an Elements update to ship!

Policy is a little ambiguous as to whether there is a right to continue selling a product after account termination.
