Will your domain name price jump after Chillidog?

I just noticed this. If you have domain names registered through Chillidog, make sure you pay attention to any upcoming renewals. Below is the pricing for the web host that Chillidog sold to.

I’ve heard from some customers that the new host is going to grandfather in plans/pricing, but I don’t know how long that grandfather term will be. Also it’s important to look out for any errors during the handover period.

If you are planning on sticking with that new host that Chillidog sold to, make sure you are aware of their domain name pricing, and that you don’t get any surprises on your upcoming invoices.

Of course, we are welcoming former Chillidog Hosting customers to our new hosting service. Domain name pricing won’t be that steep. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

When is hosting going to be available to the general public?

That pricing is outrageous, it used to be around $14.00 for TLD, specialty domains were that price.

Soon”ish” :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This is from Exact - We at Exact Hosting are delighted to announce that we have acquired Chillidog Hosting. As another quality service brought to you by Tucows, we are committed to providing you with the same excellent service you currently enjoy.

What This Means for You:

- No Change to Service or Pricing: Your hosting services and current pricing will remain the same.

  • New Name on Billing: The only immediate change you will see is that invoices and emails will now come from “Exact Hosting.” Similarly, your payment and credit card statements will reflect the new name,

I’ve heard this before, usually right before there is a change to the service and pricing…

I’m a bit cynical though when it comes to these types of buyouts, as I’ve lived through several of them (personally and professionally). :face_with_tongue:

I think it’s still prudent to check your invoices in the upcoming months. Don’t rely on auto-pilot.

That’s highway robbery, what are they thinking?? I pay a little over $11/yr.

Indeed, I was flabbergasted when I landed on that page. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I’ve got no domains with Chillidog but that’s a stinker. And doesn’t bode well for the future.

I’m no expert - but my beginning rate was $6 per month for three years at DreamHost

SSD- unlimited storage- unlimited bandwidth

I expect mine to jump to $10.99 or $12.99 in 2028

I’m not angry about 1099 to 1299 for my sites. I have a lot of websites quite a bit of traffic and they even installed the free open source forum software for me no charge they’ve been very good to me.

This thread is about domain name pricing, not web hosting pricing. :slightly_smiling_face:

Dan following our conversation the other day perhaps a little post on what the differences are in general and how to host emails separated from domains might be of help. I was confused until you explained everything to me. Then again I have to look at my socks to see what day of the week it is.

OK it’s about domain pricing. Just go to Porkbun. As far as webhosting goes, it’s hardly as if Chillidog were ever well priced.

I just compared Cloudflare’s specialty domain pricing, which is $22.20 to renew, and Exact wants $48.95 for the same domain.

Robin what is Chiilidog price for same? This is NOT the same as exact price but your current price which is held.

Chillidog and Exact pricing are the same, but it begs the question: how can Cloudflare be half the price for the same domain? Must mean Chillidog has been overcharging for years. Not good!

Good thing I’m getting rid of all of my specialty domains now that I’m on Elements Hosting.

Robin they are NOT the same I have an email which I put on forum to say that they’re holding they’re prices same as Chiilidog and I have a on they subscription which I have to keep for a while and domains renewing and I am NOT paying these prices. I have set up Elements Hosting end of last week with Dan but need to sort my emails out next and have domain parking before I can get rid of totally.
