Can't create new posts in Foundry / Alloy

Hey Gang,

As this is my first post, please forgive me if I have assigned the wrong category for this or if this has already been asked (I did a search and couldn’t find anything similar).

While using the Foundry Alloy Editor, I am recently unable to:

  • Edit an old post
(It blanked out the page when I did and it no longer displays when I try and open it in the editor itself, and has now disappeared from the website itself. It also shows as “file does not exist” when I try and preview the file in the Transmit app)
  • Create a new draft/publish a new post
(It shows briefly as a draft when saved, but disappears just as quickly and does not display in the Editor screen)

While I realize that Adam has closed down Elixir Graphics and all of his products are “out of support” as a result (really gonna miss that guy), I have no idea if this is my own unique situation or if this is just a case of the product itself depreciating as it is no longer supported.

I am open to any advice or help here as I would love to think I have more time with this editor as I have come to love it. Alternately, if I do need to consider moving to a new blog editor, what products exist out there that can be integrated easily to my Foundry created webpage?

Many thanks in advance all!

------EDIT------

So I have found that when I first log into the editor the address looks like this:
(Web address)/editor/index.php?tab=blog
And I am unable to see any new test drafts I have posted.

However when I delete the “?tab=blog” portion of the address, I am presented with the drafts portion of the editor but am unable to delete/edit the pages themselves and was told that my host’s firewall (GoDaddy) was denying my IP access.

I have since whitelisted my IP and no longer receive that error, but upon deleting the drafts, they continue to stay in the drafts menu and display the afore mentioned blank page when trying to load them in the editor.

I think I am even more confused than I was before…

All of those things are working for me. I took a screenshot of a new draft I made today. I also made a small edit to a pre-existing post without any problem.

I hope it is easy enough to open a new Alloy account, I have some sites that are built on Fundry that do not have blogs put in place yet. I hope I can still do that easily enough.

Thanks for following up Kip.

If you delete that post, log out and then log back into the editor, does it “re-appear” in your drafts?

If it does come back, when you try and edit it is it “blank”?

Appreciate your help!

-----EDIT-----

Actually, after further digging it appears as though my web host’s firewall (GoDaddy) is wrecking havoc on this whole process. When turned off everything seems to be running as expected.

This might just be why I am also getting a slew of “Redirect” errors from Google Indexing as well?

Are there others out there who are running a firewall on their server that have found a way around this, or am I doomed to have to raise and lower the firewall anytime I want to interact with my blog/website?

Deleting the draft ends up deleting it for good. So far everything seems to work as normal!

Good to hear, thank you Kip. I appreciate you taking the time to test it!

I think this is a Firewall issue from the sounds of things, and I don’t expect GoDaddy to be very nuanced with this based on the three conversations I have had with them today…

Hopefully others here have some insight to share?
