Contact form in RW8 won't work

You realise that it was Thanksgiving in the U.S, a big holiday and that many people don’t work or go away for the weekend?

Just to say that the Contact Form page type included with Rapidweaver won’t work with Foundry because it’s (the page type) not Stacks-based.

contact form within RW8 works when I upload to my hosting site. Yes, I know it’s not a ‘stack’

the foundry ‘forms’ stack doesn’t work for me no matter what I did. I moved on to one by Doobox.

Sure I do. I sent the email early friday morning (about 4am) so there was plenty of time even for an auto response.

You’re presumably not using the Foundry theme with the Contact Form page type then?

@qrper Dude it’s a long holiday weekend: Thursday through Sunday. Tamp down on your unrealistic expectations.

yes

the foundry stack and then placed the ‘form’ stack inside. It simply won’t work. Doesn’t send any errors, it doesn’t do anything. Not to worry I’m using a stack from Doobox that works fine.

Yeah, we’re at cross purposes here. Not to worry. You’ve got the form working, that’s the main thing.

I said I haven’t received a reply from Foundry yet. I stated a fact, that’ all.

Yes, it’s a long holiday! But a lot of people do work it. I did for 45 years.

I sent an email to Doobox and received a reply on friday.

That makes no sense at all???

If I understand what you are saying, you didn’t publish the site to a server? What exactly did you do? IT sounds like once you published it worked? Other people read these posts to solve similar problems.

I tested it locally using safai from the pull down menu within RW8 (on the menu bar on the mac) OR I used the monitor/inspect feature of RW.

I didn’t want to take down my live site, I sell custom made electronic pieces parts for upgrading old radio equipment, and upload the new site I was working on. So, all the testing was done locally, and not on the server.

And yes! Once uploaded into my test domain, everything worked with the exception of the Foundry ‘form’ stack.

Just saw your post here. I’ve not received an email from you regarding this. Where did you send it?

Also as @Mathew points out it is a holiday weekend here and my 11 year wedding anniversary.

That said, if you send me an email, that includes the following I can take a look at it for you.

  • A link to your page either the Foundry form that is not working.
  • A ZIP file containing your project file.
  • What version of PHP are you running on your server?
  • Let me know if you’re using Form or Form Pro.
  • Who is your host? Do you know if they support PHPmailer? If you don’t you might ask them.

You can send that stuff to adam at elixirgraphics dot com

If the ZIP file is larger than 3-4mb you’ll need to send it using a service like Dropbox or WeTransfer.

Teefers…

Yeah, that sounds stupid even coming from me. let me try this again.

The majority of posts here about my problem were ‘there is an issue with your host server’
I took that to the bank and opened a service ticket with the host provider.
He in turn told me nothing was in fact wrong on his end (what did I expect him to say?)
He told me to created a test subdomain within my domain and upload the new site I was working on and if there was a problem, he would be more than happy to find out what was going on.

I did exactly that, uploaded into a subdomain and whoa, the both contract forms, the one internal to RW8 and the stack from Doobox worked just fine.

So, while everyone figured it was a hosting issue, in the end it wasn’t

Does that make sense now?

Happy Anniversary!

Don’t bust a gut on this one. The foundry form works really well and I explained to Mike over PM what the cause is.

The human test cannot be empty otherwise PHP will cause a parse error meaning the whole page will not display so it just looks blank.

This needs to be filled in: Screenshot 2020-11-29 at 18.22.18

Otherwise you get this in the PHP which causes the parse error:

Glad you got it sorted. I’ll check this one off my list then. Thanks @Pyrobrit

And thanks for the well wishes on the anniversary, too!

I took a quick look, and I didn’t see anyone on this post mention a “Hosting Issue”, so Don’t know why you think “everyone figured it was a hosting issue”. I asked you, “Who are you hosting with?” So someone else who uses that host might have had a similar issue.

If you had replied that you weren’t using the host and trying to do it send mail from preview you would have gotten help a lot sooner.

That’s who I’m hosting with
