Contact Form

Is there currently an issue with the Contact Form? I have switched hosting from IONOS to Chillidoghosting because the former has an issue with .htaccess. However I still can’t get the Contact Form to work.

Is it my settings or are there issues with this?

I. think there an issue as I have same problems and reported it

Yes, there is currently an issue with the Form component, it’s not a hosting issue.

We are working on a fix for the Form component as I type. We hope to have an update that fixes the form this week. Apologies for the inconvenience!

after 1.09 still not working aaaaggggggghhhhhhh

Don’t worry, we’ll get to the bottom of it for you. First can you run the API checker on your site, here’s how to do it:

We recommend PHP 8.4 or later for best performance, but the minimum supported version is 8.1.

To check is the Elements API is running as expected on your server, simply append ?apicheck to the URL of any page containing a Form.

my-website.com/contact/?apicheck

Let us know the results of that!

well I used to get the green ok line at the top of the screen but it never had any words in it…thats when it was working fine…tried just now and got nothing…I know im on php4…tried it on Firefox too

Okay, thanks. We’re looking into this now and will report back soon!

In the meantime you can try a re-publish all files again and see if that helps (although, I have a feeling this is us, not you).

I done that it didnt work…if you need to get into my host and have a look round I can send you my password in private email if thats any help

the old form that worked had 3 items in the email settings the new one has 5 settings I cant understand why the from and to have to be the same cos im not send an email from myself to myself…the email surely is coming from anybody that is trying to contact me

Not working for me either, I have php 8.4

Please post you logfile from /rw/elements/com.realmac.corepack/api/logs this could help.

If there ist no log directory, then it won’t work. Create it.

well i tried but the forum says log files are not allowed, i zip’d them and that is not allowed either!

hopefully i have saved them as text files that upload!

Redacted log files

Hi @jwDave

You don’t want to post these log files on the forum, they contain your email account password in plain text.

I’ve downloaded the file and am reviewing the error, however I’d recommend you change your email password as it was visible on the forum for around 5 minutes.

Hi @jwDave

Thanks for your patience while I looked at the logs.

So this is where the form is failing:

SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host. Connection failed. stream_socket_enable_crypto(): Peer certificate CN=``nacho.chillidoghosting.com``' did not match expected ``CN=``smtp.mail.me.com``’"

You are hosting with Chillidog but it looks like you are trying to use your Apple me.com email address as the SMTP server.

Are you using your normal email password for your me.com email account, or are you using an app-specific password? I’m still not sure if Apple allows form mail to be sent from their SMTP server, but the guide I posted in the other thread talking about this says you have to use an app-specific password for the SMTP settings.

Let us know and we can further troubleshoot.

what a pain, why does your post say " Please post you logfile from /rw/elements/com.realmac.corepack/api/logs this could help."

I will change the password…

Wasn’t my post, I just jumped in afterwards to let you know.

This is fine, there can be both a from and to address entered and it can be the same email address.

Just tested the form on my server with PHP 8.2 and it works fine.

I am using an app specific password

dont work on mine either of the two sites and I even bought a different domain on a different host and they didnt work there either.
