Dev Diary 93 - CMS Early Access Beta đŸ”„

Hello again,

Today we’re shipping the first (very) early beta of the Elements CMS later Today :tada:

This is a preview release. It doesn’t yet include all the CMS components you’ve seen us demo, we’re starting with the essentials: Collection and Item. These two alone are powerful enough to start building out content-driven sites, and they’ll give you a good feel for how the CMS works.

Our current focus is on making sure the foundations are solid. Once we’re happy with the stability and experience, we’ll begin rolling out the more advanced components like Search, Conditionals, Tags, Pagination, and others.

Heads up: This is beta software. It’s unfinished, there are bugs, and things will change. We’re releasing it now so we can gather real feedback and iterate fast(er). Your input will help shape how the CMS evolves.

We do not recommend using the CMS in live production sites (just yet).

Watch the Dev Diary to learn more about Today’s CMS Beta :backhand_index_pointing_down:

Remember:

There is a learning curve to using the CMS. It’s a more advanced part of Elements, and while it unlocks a lot of power and flexibility, it will take a little time to get to grips with, especially in this early beta stage.

We’re working on the documentation and haven’t had time to produce proper video tutorials just yet. Those will come as the CMS stabilises and more components are added. In the meantime, we recommend exploring the example project (linked above) to get a feel for how it all fits together.

CMS Feedback

If you hit an issue with the CMS or something doesn’t make sense, just post in the forum and we’ll do our best to help

Thanks,
Dan @ Team Realmac

Hi, I’m very interested in this. Quick question (apologies if this has been asked before):

Will the blog posts have “pretty URLs”?

My current Rapidweaver website has 2x TCMS Blogs. One of the blogs is a portfolio the other is a traditional blog. The URL’s are now listed in Google and ideally, I’d like to maintain that connection without having to create lots of redirects in an HTACCES file.

TCMS 1: https://www.yourspaceliving.com/portfolio/

TCMS 2: BLOG

Wooooh!

Would love to test the CMS function in beta!

The post at the top of the page has now been updated with more details and the dev diary video.

We’ll be shipping Elements 1.1.0 later today, and this will include the beta CMS components for you all to try.

Yes, you’ll need to modify the .htaccess file, but we’ll have instructions on how to do that soon

Wedding anniversary and Elements CMS Beta release day. What could be more beautiful?

Awww, congrats :clinking_glasses:

Just downloaded Appleseed File it does not show in DARK MODE (my preference screen selection) even if light or dark mode chosen inside elements. Have to change my screen preference to light mode to see. TIA

Strange, have just tested and it’s working fine here

Although the text colours could be better, you can see them in dark mode. Can you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing?

works in dark mode for me

The CMS components are missing. You need to update to version 1.1 of Elements that we released earlier today!

Yes I just spotted when turned over to light mode “MISSING COMPONENT com.realmacsoftware.cmsCollection” TIA
