Problem: I want a PDF to be displayed in a Lightbox that can be scrolled but not downloadable using an image as a trigger.
I can achieve the Lightbox effect with the image element and link but the PDF that appears is too big - can’t figure out how to size and I can’t locate or create the close button.
If I use a Modal, I can control the size of the Lightbox BUT the PDF doesn’t show up - only a static image of the first page (is it the first page of the PDF or the original image used as the trigger?) Note: I have no coding experience and using the HTML custom settings to create an iframe to bring it in is beyond my comprehension at this point.
I see you have image, SGV, audio, gallery and video components but no PDF component. Am I missing something?
I did this and Gary from @doobox helped me (PDF) tag with a sizing problem. All you need to do is change my PDF’s for yours. If this is something you want then please try substituting yours, if it is and your stuck please come back and I’ll do my best to help.
I see the PDF instructions component. I will see if I can adapt it. This really should be a standard part of Elements. I am using Joe Workman’s PDF Pro stack in my RW 8 websites and it is simple, fast and easy to personalize. I don’t know TWIG or other Coding and it is a major roadblock to using Elements.
David I didn’t know anything when starting Elements Beta and I still don’t! However I find talking to @elements bot and workig with the bot sometimes over a day or two we end uo with something that worsk. In this instance I had it 99% done but PDF was showing the whole document in window so was miniscule. Gary (@Doobox) helped on here to sort that bit out.
So moral of story is just explore, have fun and hen you get stuck come on here.
Thank you. I have adjusted the PDF format for displaying one column. I would like the button to be an image not a text and I just want one click on the image to open the pdf. Right now, I click on the button, it opens and the Pdf is well formed. Thoughts on replacing the button with an image?
Just out to take Grandson to swimming, won’t be back in front of of computer until after 1000 tomorrow. Is it the red square in bottom left you want that to be an image to open what you have circled?
You should be making a snowman! My grandson swims at county level and goes 6 days a week, a coupe of 0500 starts! He’s committed - If I carry on my age I will be committed soon!
OK finished building my Ark - Noah would be proud! In the meantime I have played with your project and here’s what I think you mean if not then just shout again. I have changed your PDF report name to “report” just so its easier for me.
Make a snowman-that I can do if you give me a new lower back…
Regarding the PDF. The placement is right (which I can do) but rather than the “Examination and Treatment” as the click, I want this image to be the click.
OK hopefully this Changed image to “before” and placed images in folder. You can make image bigger by just changing px in code. Made text and picture “clickable” so use knows to click picture. I hope this is what you want and if you need anymore excuses for that snowman ask me to do something else for your project!
Ah so you want it to open in a light box over all page. I’ll do that tomorrow for you I was under impression you wanted it opening in column at side of text. My bad!
My issue. I liked the one you came up with. Just looked at the design and decided it needed to be a Lightbox not an accordion. If this is too much I found a work around. It’s not as elegant or as concise as a pdf. See here the test: Mexican Bowl Treatment
However, with some pdfs about 20 pages, this is going to overwhelm the page.
If you go to my trial site and press sustainability button, is this what you want - full page, then you can scroll through every page without having to go in and out of every page. Also the width here is full but I can do any width for you like 3/4 width of page?
Paul, nicely done! Well designed. Good I. How did you size the Lightbox popups? Using the image element, checking off the Lightbox doesn’t have any size for the Lightbox. How do you size the pop up? How do you place a close button on it? That’s really all I need to know.
Check out the problem with the resume here: https://test.bailin.works. If you open the resume there is no way to close it unless you either close the site or go back the original page.
So I have updated project for you and you can just fit the resume in here too. So second tab is a Modal with a PICTURE trigger, you can change this for a button or whatever you like. The html contains the path to your pdf and the name. I don’t have a PDF viewer so embedded it with a little HTML Code Snippet code so it should now be what you want.
Also theres a Modal Close section where you can add anything want so I’ve added an ”X” for closing.
Its responsive for different screens but if you want to use the breakpoint settings to customise it for feel free.
