Elements Dev Talk 04: Updates and New Features

In this episode of DevTalk, Ben and I walk through the latest updates to Elements. We cover the new image slider improvements, fresh form component templates, and tweaks to the publishing setup. We also talk about recent user feedback, the store refresh, and what’s coming next for the CMS. As ever, we are trying to balance what people are asking for with the deeper groundwork we need for future development.

Don’t forget to add a note to your Calendar, the Store is going to refresh with new products and updates every Thursday!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this weeks rather long and rambling Dev Chat.

Haha, welcome to the show

For those of you that don’t have the time to watch the full video, make a note: Every Thursday is when new products and updates drop on the Element Store :hugs:

Is the speed of the transition from one slide to the next controlled by “transition” controls in the core component settings?

You guys enunciate so well, you can put the video on 1.75x speed and still understand everything.

At least for native or fluent English speakers. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yup, like this…

Sorry, I didn’t explain that very well. What you pointed out is how long the slide will stay on each image before moving to the next. I wanted to know if there was a way to control the speed of the actual transition when it’s changing images.

@dan Could you please give a quick clarification about the origin of the images included in the resource packs? What kind of attribution is required, or do the rights belong to you?

Before I use the images you provide, I’d like to make sure the copyright situation is clear.

We don’t have a control for the duration of the actual transition, but that is some we could easily add. I’ll see if we can sneak that in to the next update

Thanks @ben, that would be awesome.

The duration of the actual transition can change the whole feel of the slideshow and website. I like to use slow transitions for clients who want their website to feel elegant and upscale, like photographers or wedding venues.

Haha, I’m not sure if I should be flattered of offended

All images in the resources packs were created with various AI tools and are completely free of copyright, you can use them in any personal or commercial project without restriction. We’ve worked hard to ensure they are of a consistent quality. Hope that helps

Hi Dan,

About 7 years ago I put together my webpage on my own but now it’s time for me to update it. At the time, I used and modified
an Elements template by Christoph Richardet, but I see from his website that he is now doing other work. I am an architect and
not a website developer, so I am a novice at this, even though I was able to pull it together many years ago. My webpage is www.jdmarc.com

I need to wrap my head around this again, but I’m afraid I have lost all of the knowledge I was able to cobble together before.
I would like to work on this on my desktop but when I downloaded the trial version of elements, it requires me to be on OS 13.0 or
higher. I have to stay on Monterey version 12.7.8 because an OS System beyond this will cause a problem for my Archicad software.

•. Is there a way I can download a version of Elements that will work with OS 12.7.8 ? If not, I will be limited to using my Macbook
which has Sequoia 15.4. Not ideal, but I can use it if it your new update makes a difference

• The first thing I need to do is get your latest version, but I see there are options. Would Elements Plus be the appropriate version
for my use?

•. Can you recommend any templates that would be appropriate for my use. I’d like to keep things similar to how my current webpage
looks and functions, but I’m open to a new look.

Your help is appreciated.

Thank you,
Jim Mickartz
