Food for thought... light typefaces and the visually impaired

(Greg Schneck) #1

In addition to our website we have an opt-in mail list. I recently asked our blind and visually impaired visitors/readers to comment on our website and mail “accessibility”. Here is one response which I present merely as something to think about.

I am not so visually impaired that I need to resort to audio feedback on websites. However, due to diabetic retinopathy nearly forty years ago, I find it difficult to read many websites that use lighter shades of black or blue for their text. Apple’s site it very difficult for me to read. It seems that style exceeds the need for readability with many web designers.
