Foundry3 is no longer available. Which system would you convert your websites to, “Foundation” or something else?
Hey there! Since Foundry is no longer available, you’re probably weighing a few options. Foundation is certainly a framework you could look at…
That said, if you’re open to exploring something new, you might want to take a peek at Elements. It’s currently in beta, but it’s shaping up to be a powerful and intuitive WYSIWYG builder. It’s designed with a modern approach and might be just what you’re looking for. Plus, since it’s being actively developed, there’s lots of exciting potential ahead!
There’s plenty of videos about RapidWeaver Elements on YouTube (we record at least 1 a week), so if you want to get a good idea of where it’s at, this video from a few weeks back is a good place to start.
It’s always a good idea to experiment and see what feels right for your workflow. Whichever path you choose, happy building, and feel free to ask if you need more guidance!
P.S. If you’d like to purchase the Elements beta, let me know an I can send you the details via email.
I’m assuming you already have Foundry 3. If not … then that’s another story.
Websites made with Foundry 3 do, and will work, perfectly fine moving forward. New or need-to-be revamped websites can still be done in Foundry 3 as well. To tell you the truth, I wouldn’t convert right now. Foundry 3 still works perfectly fine. I’m guessing Foundry 3 + RW Classic will be good for another 3-to-5 years for creation and editing … most likely up to 5 years.
The problem with “switching” is it’s very hard to know which products will last. Some products being promoted may last fewer than 5 years! We don’t have enough information/data to make a truly informed decision.
Maybe Elements will work out fine (maybe not). Presumably RW Classic will last (especially if Elements doesn’t). There’s the upcoming Stacks Pro. There’s Blocs 6 that was just released. And other options.
Put simply, I would NOT convert at this time.
