HELP CMS On Line editor - SOLVED

WHERE IS MY ONLINE EDITOR? How do I get to the online editor I set up yesterday - see below for explanation. @ben

I was so happy yesterday I set everything up on my Online Editor, had a play and added various things to it. I saved my file and closed everything down for the night.

Today I open project and my admin page states “admin/password sign in” when I sign in it takes me back to the set up page. So I set it up again and it opened. So I saved everything, saved project and closed down everything to see what happens.

I opened it again and the same thing takes me to the set up page again so where is my online editor and how do I get to it? TIA

Hi Paul,

You get to the online editor through your web browser, not through the page in Elements. If you followed the example and created a dashboard page, then https://mydomain.com/dashboard.

I’d then bookmark it for easier access.

I believe if you try to do it through the page in Elements it’s going to run the setup again.

There perhaps lies my problem. I asked yesterday in post I have 4 domain and where do I set this up and no one has come back to me yet. So I set up a folder called blog on my Elements Hosting and loaded everything in to there. So its not “attached” to a domain.

This is where I think Bens video is lacking he just whizzes away saying “add this and publish” nothing about where! THANKS for coming back really appreciate it!

I’m assuming all your domains are pointing to the same site. If so, I don’t think it will matter which domain name you use to get to the page.

sorry to be dumb!

I have a main domain set up on my tree of domains in Elements hosting. I have 4 domains set as folders to the main domain. I have websites published to each of those folders. I created a new folder called blog and added microblog project to that folder. I have my main domain in the publishing dsettings for Microblog. I put the main domain as you said before and got a 401 error. I changed dashboard to blog and even added /blog/dashboard and still got 401’s so I am confused.

So to summarise I have a main website and I put the following in as your suggestion above https://maindomanname.co.uk/blog/dashboard TIA

You can simply drag the ECMS Online Editor component into a new page in your project.

After that, you can name the page whatever you like and also choose any URL slug you want. The online editor will then be accessible through that URL slug.

Just keep in mind that you can only use the online editor once per website.

So if you want to use it on another website, you’ll need to go through the same setup again for each one.

I’d suggest watching the CMS video Ben created about a month ago, and then the new one afterwards. That should make the whole setup much clearer for you.

THANKS I have set up everything, I’ve added posts and done a few tweaks playing around in the online editor. I then closed my project overnight and online editor and when I come to open it today its asking me to set up again. I did that and closed it to see what happens and its gone again and asking me to set up again.

So the original question was “where is it?”

I just wanted to play so set up folder blog and published the Microblog project to there. I am at a learning stage on this and I’ve watched both Bens videos through and through a few times but he does not say how to get online editor after set up unless I am missing something! TIA

You most likely created a new empty page in your project for the Online Editor.

Then you probably added the Online Editor component onto that page.

You must have given that page some kind of name, for example:

  • Online Editor
  • Dashboard
  • or something similar.

You may also have assigned a custom slug to that page. That slug then becomes part of the URL.

That is the URL you always open whenever you want to access the Online Editor.

For example:

www.mydomain.com/dashboard/

It’s also possible that you may need to append:

to the end of the URL.

Example:

www.mydomain.com/dashboard//#/login

Thanks just been out watching Mando so now back! I think that maybe , as a said, not having this attached to a domain but a folder may be the problem? I just wanted an area - a folder- to play with whilst I learned all about the programme. I have not attached it to any of my 4 live domains as I just wanted to play and learn then decide what I am going to use it for. One is definitely is my Intranet which will be put on a local server. This sadly does not arrive until September.

Steve THANKS but this is not the way! I have the “dashboard” set up in the Microblog project I have published Thie to a folder “Blog” on Elements Hosting and then set up the “admin” page fully. I have added a few play things, blogs, set up etc. and it all works. However I can not find my link back to the admin - online editor. I have tried the various methods above but just get 401 error. I think I may need to add it to one of my domains. THANKS for your help as always!

Ok so today I have attached my microblog content inside my domain “dontbeaclot.co.uk” I have then set up a dashboard page. I have been into this and set everything up on my online editor and added a play post. Everything is fine. I then copied the URL of the online editor and also saved it in my favourites folder. I then closed the Projectafter republishing everything for the third time - just in case. I then go to online editor and its all there no problem Close project and editor, click on saved link - “safari can not open this page” message. Copy the link I had saved and still the same.

I am totally flummoxed I have tried all of @Pegasus links (obviuosly changing to my proper domain) above and still can not get to open online editor. What am I doing to drive myself nuts?

As always, without screenshots of your setup in Elements — or even the project file itself — it’s difficult to say what exactly is causing the issue.

It’s also possible that the problem is related to Safari and some cookie or privacy settings. Try using a different web browser and see if the issue still occurs.

Alternatively, send us the URL where the ECMS login should be accessible. Then we can test ourselves whether the page can actually be opened or not.

Whilst I appreciate what you have said I’m watching footy now until 1800 at least so not ata computer! The https is dontbeaclot.co.uk and I have added a page called “dashboard” I have tried safari and edge. Also when I first opened through dashboard page and set it up I copied the browser url and pasted it into another window and it opened. I then saved that as a shortcut tested it and it worked. I then closed the project and pages on browser checked the link and then nothing! So confused! Thanks for help but it will wait until footy over!

Hi Paul,

It might be helpful if we could see at least your folder structure in Elements. Just a screenshot like this.

OK here we go for today.

I only have the basic Microblog project - untouched for starters. I have added my 1 page site - dontbeaclot.co.uk to it and added a page “dashboard”

There are zero changes at all to microblog except for adding the two pages. This has been published to the Elements Hosting file "dontbeaclot.co.uk and the website is there and works.

I opened the file went to dashboard page and set Online Editor up, no problem at all. I added one play post and saved it - nothing more. I took the url from this Online Editor and pasted it into another window and it opened, with this in mind I saved this as a shortcut in my favourites.

I then closed everything down, project - saved - and Safari overnight. The next day I opened project and then clicked on shortcut to get. “Safari can not connect to server” error this is my shortcut I saved that opened the day before http://127.0.0.1:51082/dashbosrd/#/files/0/edit/2026-05-24-a-new-dbac-post.md I have shortened this to just dashboard ending, adding #/fikle as suggested above but still get same errors.

On opening the file today I once again republished everything and I still get the set up page once again on opening the file and I can not open the Editor.

I also went into file structure in Hosting and found below - there is no CMS folders there at all - I think there should be?

I chose this site as its just a single page to take you to main site the .com version. This is under construction in Elements but I was waiting for CMS2 to arrive before I started my CMS Journey. I just want an area to play and learn and thats all I am trying to do here, It seems I am missing something and don’t know what THANKS for all your help (@pegasus too) THANKS again!

This url seems to be a preview url, not a full url from your provider.

I’m not sure I’m following completely what you’re doing (I’ve not used the blog at all), but if this is the actual link to your ‘online editor’ it can’t work - it’s a local address. It sounds like you’re opening the file in Elements, previewing it in Safari (which would generate a local address), then trying to use that local address as an external link to the online editor.

You’d need to copy the address from the published page.

But as I said earlier, I may be misunderstanding what you’re doing.

previously posted (I deleted) to get to setup on my server not local, once setup copy login page

The others are correct the http://127.0.0.1:51082/dashbosrd/#/files/0/edit/2026-05-24-a-new-dbac-post.md is a local address typically generated by Preview. From the pic of your file structure on the website, it doesn’t appear that it was published to the actual site.

When I go to your site I see only the single page with no menu to other pages. If you select the Blog page in Elements, what does it show for the URL in the inspector?

Here’s an example from the Microblog project:

Steve I have set this up three times as each time it asked me to set up. I have been into online editor and changed and added posts etc. It’s not getting on to set up it’s getting on it when I have set up and closed it down. This is the bit I’m missing THANKS!
