How to make multisite with subdirectories - Help wanted

I have a bilanguage site and URL’s might cause problems in SEO vice - what you do you think about this?

Beauce of using a stack with cookies (RWML) to translate content URL’s does not chance when language changes. I understood it would be better to have English keywords in URL as a page is in English.

For example, I was suggested that it would be better if URL’s would change like this or so: waldegroup.fi/fi/tietoa-meista -> waldegroup.fi/en/about-us

Do I have this option in RW? What would it require or what other options I do have?

Thanks for the help!

It would require that you duplicate all content manually and create for each language separate sites.

Or, you are a super duper .htaccess specialist and create rewrite rules for all your languages and pages. :wink:

@instacks

I was afraid of that! Do you think it is worth it regarding SEO for a small business site? In theory or by experience how much that would affect?

Omg :smiley: I just learned what is .htaccess file is, so no way. Besides I am on server that uses Nginx. Unless that .htaccess file has project end function I am not aware of.

Thank you for your kind response!

No I don’t think so.

How am I able to make two separate pages working together? For URL’s I want to use sub-directories.

All I can think of is to choose the desired URL’s on both project files in RW’s inspector. And link pages together as would link any other external site. Is rest up to server configuration? Is there more I can do from Rapid Weaver end? All advice is welcome!

Edit: I found this article How To Configure Single or Multiple Wordpress Site Settings With Nginx. Whether it is with Nginx or Apache, RapiWeaver or any other CMS - as a process is it similar? I just want to understand the process itself - how to make multisite with subdirectories to work and when is time to move a project for hosting company’s headache. :grin:
