Image + text side by side

I have Elements 1.5.2

I want to have text box and image side by side.

Have installed container, then inserted 2 column container, then inserted image container at left, but cannot insert text container at right. It always jumps above or below the image container.

Hi Tom, you can use one of the pre-built components for that. Check the picture to see where to find them.

Cheers.

So - the 2 columns left is different from the 2 columns under Templates → Scaffolding, which I have tried to use?

These core templates have the image and text components pre-built. All you have to do is drop in your image and replace the text with your own.

When I do that the image and text are not side by side; one is above the other.

If you are dropping into a flex, make sure the direction properties are set for row and not column.

Also, if the image and text components are not landing correctly in the editor window, drag and drop using the node browser.

When I follow your suggestion I still get a column

Can you show a picture of your node browser so we can see if the components are where you want them??

see attached

That is editor window. Node browser are the three staggered lines in the window to the left of it. See second picture in my post above.

Try this

It looks like you have a flex within another flex, which is OK, but not sure that is what you actually want.

Drag your text component (use the node browser), down, to the 2 column component below it and it should put it where you want. (If I understand correctly what you are asking)

I think that you are right, I had too many containers etc.
I now have them side by side. On attached it shows a screenshot at top from our current website made with RW8, and beneath that my attempt to recreate that in Elements. I now have the text & image side by side (thanks for guiding me), but do not know how to resize them as in the photo at top, or how to make the text actually look like Times New Roman.
Also - for some reason the names for my 4 pages show at top only on Home page, and do not appear to be linked for navigation.

Click OUT of the text component, then select the text component (don’t double click, actually selecting the text.) Then set for Times New Roman in the Text Component Properties on the right hand side. If you see Text Style, you clicked too many times.

For resizing, click on the image once to select it, and sizing should be in the Sizing Properties on the right hand side.

The Menu component uses the pages in your site automatically, and all pages, unless set to be hidden, will be listed. To be seen on each page, the menu has to be placed on each page. I would suggest getting menu looking like you want it, with all settings, etc., and then make it a global, that way it looks the same everywhere.

Attached is the best that I can do, but not what I want, since I want Elements to recreate the picture at the top.
I can not find where in the Menu I add my pages to appear at the top.

Can you upload the project to Elements Cloud and either post the link here or DM me the link and I can take a look at it for you.

To be clear, you want a menu on top and the orange header underneath that??

I have not knowingly used elements cloud, and don’t know how to upload to it.

The link to our current website: http://perihelionproductions.org/
You will see our company logo and name at top, and beneath that the list of site pages.

I want both to appear at top of our new site made by elements.

might be easier is others can check site ,just remove any publishing settings
