Odd behavior if file extension is JPG instead jpg

If the image file extension is JPG, the image looks ok in resources thumbnail, but is oddly cropped in editor and preview; it does not load at all in the live site (both Safari and DuckDuckGo). If JPG is changed to jpg, everything works as expected.

This looks like it could be the same bug reported about a month ago. Maybe it’s still on the to-do list …

It is the same bug. Until it’s fixed try an app called NameChanger. Super fast, drag and drop, change in place. Done!

You’re right, somehow I missed that post. Oddly enough, I had a very similar problem with videos almost a year ago, where changing .MP4 to .mp4 got it working as expected. A frustrating problem with a simple fix, once you know what to look for.

Thanks for the report, I’ve managed recreate the issue here and we’ll try and get it fixed for the next release :+1:

FYI, no need for an app - select multiple files in the Finder and select “Rename…” from the context menu. When multiple files are selected you get a dialog box that allows you to specify file name replacement, addition or re-formatting.

I didn’t know that. Thanks.

Hi all,

This issue should be resolved in today’s release, version 1.0! Please give it a try and let us know if you run into any issues.

Cheers

Sadly not. :frowning: I deleted /ressources and Republish All Files an still have *.JPG files.

The fix in Elements to get uppercase JPG files to render correctly in edit, preview and publish. We don’t automatically rename files. You have to do that manually in the Resources Browser.

So… if you rename your uppercase .JPG files to .jpg in the Elements Resource browser, you should then get the results you want i.e. all your jpeg’s will be lowercase on the server.

Hope that helps clear things up!

Thank you very much. I think this is more of a Google Search issue, and I’ll keep an eye on it. The server had a rewrite rule that converted everything to lowercase.
