Then - important - save the project with a different name.
b) “I checked the Resources and saw on one project that one of the two resources was showing a cross as ‘unlinked’. Deleted the resource and dragging the image into resources, saved and reloaded - the warning message has gone, problem solved.”
Nice one, I look forward to upgrading at some point! My question is, is anyone using the built in Blog page from Rapidweaver? I need to start a new blog, I can either use the built in one, Rapidblog or Poster Stacks (I’m only going to be using it on my home computer so no need for fancy stuff)…which do people recommend bearing in mind that there is this new upgrade?
The new export workflow in 8.1 requires the use of publishing settings … this is the design determined by RW folks. The only solution is you have to fine tune you publishing settings in FILE > PUBLISHING SETTING menus.
The RW 8.1 version totally interrupts my support for my customer websites, no preview possible anymore, the error " This document uses files in multiple locations that RapidWeaver is unable to access" appears and " NSUnknownKeyException". I have a lot and that means tons of Plugins and I cannot spend a lot of time to search for workarounds after an update of RW. This is an absolutely No-Go and I am using RapidWeaver for many years…I think about going to other tools!
I have one project for which the This document … message would not clear, while three others behaved perfectly after I chose the folder in which all my project sub-folders are filed. I retrieved a pre 8.1 copy of the problem project file from Time Machine and loaded it into 8.03. I then laboriously went through all the resources and embedded images, replacing them with copies from a newly created project folder to create a ‘clean’ situation. I loaded this edited 8.03 project file into 8.1 and this time the This document … message cleared when I selected my RW projects folder. However, after I had closed RW and then tried to reopen the file, the This document … message was back and this time it didn’t clear when I selected the very same folder.
I then repeated this behaviour by again opening a copy of the the 8.03 edited file into 8.1, and again the This document … message cleared, but was back after I closed RW and tried opening the file again.
I’ve tried copying site resources into the document, as suggested above, but this didn’t help. I’ve also checked the small number of files in the Resources area to make sure each is definitely linked back to the folder that holds my project files.
I have the problem tested with a new and blank project (I only assigned a theme). All hints I found here and elsewhere didn’t help. Now, Realmac, it’s your turn…
The only way I found round that was to create a NEW blank project with one dummy page, then drag and drop all the pages from the problematic site into the new project and save it. No warning message when reloading this.
Of course, you have to go though all the other setting, General, logos, publishing etc but it works for me.
just finished work on a customer website yesterday (ignoring the update message) and later on did the update. Now I get this message too and clicking on “Not Now” opens the project file but all the images in the blog entries aren’t here!
Usually I’m getting an email with text and a photo to write a blog entry. I don’t keep these photos on my computer. How to proceed to get the website with all the photos again?
Where can I get the version 8.0.3 to downgrade as soon as possible.
Unfortunately Realmacsoftware “offered” such easter eggs more than once with their updates. I should have known better
Any project files saved with 8.1 will be incompatible with the older version. You will need to restore a copy of the older 8.0x file from TimeMachine(or other backup) and reapply any changes made.
Iuckily I first finished my (business) work with 8.0.3 and afterwards started the update. And today when I saw the mess with the missing photos I quit 8.1 without saving. Chances are big that I can continue working with 8.0.3.
Hopefully there will bei a version 8.1.1 very soon.
Hi, The autoupdate function keeps failing - the update downloads, extracts and then says that the dialog states that Rapidweaver needs to restart to finalise the install.
The software closes, but fails to install or restart.
On the next boot, the cycle repeats and the update is prompted again.
