RapidWeaver 9 Wishlist, what do you want to see?

RapidWeaver already has a tabbed interface, just not the way you describe. If you open a project, click the little + symbol at the far right, like in Safari, you get a new project open. Click it again and you get a third, so you can work on multiple projects at one time.

Thanks Robert, I didn’t know that. I don’t often work on multiple projects at the same but I can see that would be very helpful in some situations so thanks for the tip.

I do like to keep my Library open all the time and resources open much of the time so tabs there would be great. Failing that, even being able to select a window to activate it and bring it to the front would be an improvement (since the Resources window is always behind Library, to view resources, it is necessary for Library to be closed or dragged out of the way each time.

3 posts were split to a new topic: What’s your RW Setup?

Aside from the tabs, any improvements to the layout of the screen would be great. When I’m on my iMac (27”) it isnt an issue but when I’m on my MacBook Air, it’s nearly impossible to have more than one of the page list / stacks library / page inspector And still have a useable area to edit the page.

I would like the built-in blog post feature to have an option to drop in a couple photos or video. I have been using stacks that allows to do this of course. But I particularly think it should work with the built in blog format. It just seems odd to me they will also be all text.

You can certainly use photos in the built in blog, though it’s not very elegant. I find one photo per entry works OK though.

Image gallery capability (drag and drop or warehouse images) on the built-in blog page. It’s the only thing preventing me from using it. No I don’t want to use a CMS solution, it would be great to be able to keep it simple.

Cheers!

Do you mean the banner image up on top? Is there another way to add photos using the built in blog?

Sure, just drag them into your blog post. I usually make the image the first thing I add. Then highlight it, and from the Format menu choose HTML and then Align Left or Right. Then I add the text. Like I say, it’s not good for adding more than one image, but for single ones it works OK. Here’s an example - https://www.hovewebdesign.com/Blog/index.html.

If you’re using a theme by Elixir, Adam has a thing called the Blog Entry Topper which lets you add an image to the beginning of each post with a code snippet - like this.

Been through this before I think.
I suggested he use the “override site banner” under general settings for a banner and the drag and drop method for blog entries but I’m not sure if this belongs under this topic …

Probably a silly requrest for some … but I’d like to be able to remove all icons from the toolbar (without the whole thing crashing and being unable to use it), or perhaps give us the ability to hide it. I use RW on a smaller screen when I’m mobile, plus I use shortcuts.

Oh good that makes it so much more useful! One photo should be sufficient for most blog posts I think. I use the “Mountains” theme right now.

Caching and redirects: .htaccess

RW8 lets you modify the .htaccess file on your web server. That’s good for those of us that know how to do it, but is less useful for those that don’t. For example, I see a lot of https sites that I can still visit at the http URL. That defeats the point of SSL.

Allow RW users to do some common optimizations and write the values to the .htaccess file for them.

I would feel more comfortable if RW had a trash can so you don’t delete too much by accident. I am always worried if I delete too much at a time and end up deleting the wrong thing.

I am besides a Rapidweaver user also a video editor. What is miss in RW is a function that is basics in video edit software. For example, i use an EQ plugin, do some colorgrading and scaling on a video clip. I can copy the clip + these effects… and paste them into a second clip. When i do that a little window pops-up asking me which effect i want to add to this other clip… like only the colorgrading for example. A function like this would be awesome if i can use that on a RW page… copy all the page… start a new page… paste all the stacks with prefs to the other page, or select which one you want to paste.
I think when you can use some of these video editing software functions, RW would be making a huge step in making it easier for us Weavers.

Keep up the great work!! RW continues to improve and we love it. A couple of features I would like to see are:

  1. Ability to add custom icons to Folders and/or developers’ logos in the selection tool.

  2. Tabs as @zeebe posted above.

  3. Love the “View Published Website” feature but want the ability to right click a page and “View Published Page”.

  4. NO Auto Save or the ability to turn it off.

In the task bar dropdown you can go to edit -> undo to reverse an action you have done, including deleting while editing…

Increase page setting text sizing

Is it possible to make the text size bigger in the page settings? I’m young and don’t have any sight issues, but that text is quite tiny. It’s the same size no matter of the page or plugin you use, it would be nice having the option of making it bigger. It’s tiring using RW for long hours, having to deal with such a small text.

With the transition to ARM processors I would like to see RW for iPad. (yeah I know its crazy)

iOS doesn’t allow for plugins so nearly all functionality would be lost.
