We’re back with the next beta of Squash 4 and it’s really shaping up to be a super solid release, check out the video below to see what’s new
One thing I do want to highlight is the new Image viewer, you can now zoom in and out of your images so you can see the before and after quality of your image. Use command + and command - to zoom in and out, and yes you can hold space while dragging around to inspect the image!
Add an adjustable before-and-after preview with interactive zoom and panning.
Replace the Mac editor with the new integrated preview.
New image watermark feature.
Added image privacy options.
Speed up and stabilize the image list, including during preview and window resizing.
Automatically hide image-list columns as space narrows for a cleaner view.
Turn compression size estimates on by default.
Improve renaming and filename handling.
System Requirements
Squash requires macOS Sonoma 14.6 or later, on Intel or Apple Silicon Macs.
The AI filename descriptions requires macOS 27 or later, on an Apple Intelligence-compatible Apple Silicon Mac.
Get The Beta
To get access to the new beta, you’ll need an active Squash licence, and enable the “Check for Beta updates” option in the Squash preferences. The beta is not available on Setapp, and is only in the direct builds. Once v4 is final, we’ll be releasing it on Setapp.
Then click return on your keyboard (you might have to enter your macOS user login password), then try opening up Squash again and seeing if it picks up the update?
Also let us know if you have Beta Updates checked in Squash’s settings.
Watermarks. Before I had many different watermarks, now only one. Or are they hiding somewhere? @dan And before I could write text and use as a watermark.
Yes, now that I have the latest BETA, I can see that the watermarks have been changed, and there no longer appears to be away to have multiple watermarks. I liked having the ability to create multiple ones for different use cases.
Perhaps not a big deal in the future since AI can remove these. My photos are stolen all the time and are used on Facebook and in TikTok videos. But not this one as far as I know.
