I can get a title under each thumbnail in the Gallery layout using the Caption function but it is not visible when you click on that photo to show it individually. How to is in this thread -

Also in that thread is a possible solution using modals which I might now try as I am more familiar with things.
I started off trying to add a caption as physical text in the photo to get around this but soon realised that was not going to work. It is the one thing that is still missing to me compared to RW but from responses on here it sounds like while it is basic functionality it is very hard to implement. Gallery Pro seems like overkill to me as well for this particular need.
