Hi Dan,
Modal works great for single image Lightbox. See my structure in the image below. So no need to add Lightbox to individual images as this works. Maybe other folks have better ideas.

I added a second row of Text then image in a grid. When I click on the top photo the modal is under the second added image in the grid. So there are some layer issues with the modal or multiple modals on the same page. I have a screen shot if needed,
We know about the layering issues, we’ll get those fixed in a future beta (it’s part of a bigger job that one). Hang in there!
