You don’t. You use the Background color setting. The element colors are only used for things like Buttons, etc.

OK, thanks Joe. However I tried “background color” to get a totally dark background for my entire site but the black bleeds thru everything I add in front! What am I missing. Here is what I’m trying to get:
Then you need to add background colors to those elements.
