❔What do you want to see in RapidWeaver 8 and beyond?

@dan

Please don’t take this the wrong way. when I saw that heading it actually upset me because we are still new in 7 and it feels to me like your just attempting to bump out a new version as quick as possible before 7 is even stabilized. I see issues all day in these forums and yes they are getting solved however by announcing what do you want to see in 8, you make it seem as you don’t care what is currently going on with 7 and trying to make a quick buck. I get it that you need to support your families too but I am taking it as your already giving up on 7 and looking for that buck. I don’t want to see anything in 8 because I want 7 to be perfect and you can update 7 now and make it as perfect as you can, instead of working on 8.

I agree for documentation. A latin proverb says: verba volant, scripta manent!

To which could be added ‘gesta comprehendent’

Jus wanted to reassure everyone we’re continuing to work on RW7.
RW8 wouldn’t be out for a long time, I just wanted to try and plan the roadmap ahead based on what users want!

Also we have some great videos and documentation already available…
PDF Manual: https://www.realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/manual/
Getting Started Videos: http://rapidweavercommunity.com/tutorials/series/getting-started

What exactly do you feel is missing? What videos or written tutorials would you like to see?

Thanks,
Dan

More details in blurbs and docs. This is just one example: “Clear page status when Publishing” option on the Publishing Pref panel. What exactly are the ramifications of that option? Does it affect server AND local? If you don’t clear is the page published every time? If so, All files for the page? etc.

Here is what pdf doc says:
Clear page status when publishing
Whenever RapidWeaver publishes your site, by default the “changed” flag is removed to
let you know that all changes have been published. In RapidWeaver 7, as there is no
“Export”, simply “Publishing to a Local Folder”, the preference to reset this status on
“Export” has been removed.

I don’t even know what that is attempting to say… and it is worded very poorly I believe. -

That is just one example of many. The whole Theme, Master Theme, etc could use a LOT more documentation. I found by accident that if you change a Master Theme then go to a different project file the same Master is NOT updated UNLESS you reselect the theme from the page theme pulldown, then it updates to the newer one… I may be missing it but I don’t see that anywhere in docs…

Plus… when changes are made in RW app they are not always reflected in docs…
