I have a question to RapidWeaver creators: what should we, buyers get for the price of the subscription?
Firstly, it seems that RapidWeaver Classic hasn’t been updated for several months. I haven’t have subscription for several months, maybe 6 months or so, now I have subscribed again, but the program version seems to be the same.
Secondly, support has to be part of the price. I have sent a support request more than a week ago, but I haven’t received any answer.
So, please make it clear, what I can expect for the price.
Actually support is not included in the subscription, because we don’t charge for support, we offer it for free for all users of our apps, regardless of their subscription status (active or expired). We even support older versions of our apps that our users might still be using, free of charge.
The support ticket you sent in on May 15th was regarding your website not displaying properly on iPad OS version 17.5 (photo albums missing from the page). You mentioned it was displaying normally on desktop (macOS Sonoma).
As the issue is a design related issue that is only affecting your iPad, you’d want to post that here on the community forum for help as we are not able to provide design related support via our email support channel.
Go ahead and create a new post here on the forum and provide the details (link to page that is not displaying properly, iPad model, where are the albums supposed to be showing on the page, etc.) in order to get some feedback from the community.
At the moment we are devoting 100% of our man-power to getting a RapidWeaver Elements Beta out, but rest assured RapidWeaver Classic will continue to get some love, we have some patch releases planned in the coming months and we will continue to develop it alongside RapidWeaver Elements so that users will be able to use both apps side by side.
My understanding is that it wasn’t a design issue. My webpage started working badly after the IOS 17.5 update, previously there was no problem with it at all. But now it’s the past, because a forum member was so kind to spend his valuable time on me and helped me to solve it. Finally it seems that there was a problem with the Eclipse component on the new IOS version.
I understand that you consider that support is not part of the price, but it doesn’t work this way. Maybe you are the only one who think that things work like that. If you buy a product or a service, you always buy support as well. It’s part of the price, it has been calculated this way.
This forum is really good because customers can help and support each others very quickly and effectively. If you think that support related issues should be solved here, why do you publish a dedicated e-mail address to provide support? Moreover, as I wrote, I didn’t get answer to my request.
So, just to be on the same page: RapidWeaver Classic won’t be improved in the future? If you won’t improve it and support is free of charge, what can I get for my subscription price? If nothing, I would ask for a refund!
By the way, the new Element version will be part of this subscription? Or will we have to pay for it separately?
I don’t know whether others are satisfied with this business model and what they get in return for the price, but I’m not really.
Sorry to hear things are not going quite right for you, I’ll do my best to answer your concerns below.
Our support email is there to help customers with any issues relating to our software, we can’t really offer support on iOS update issues as it’s beyond the scope (and not related) to RapidWeaver. Having said that, we do always try and help our customers if we know the answer. As @dang said the forum is a perfect place for support outside of RapidWeaver issues.
No, that is not correct. We are actively supporting and developing Classic. We have some RapidWeaver Classic updates in the pipeline, including bug fixes, new themes, and ensuring compatibility with updates to macOS (including the new system release later this year).
No, RapidWeaver Elements is a separate app and can purchased independently.
Every RapidWeaver Classic license comes with 1 year of app updates from the purchase date.
After the first year, your 1 year period of app updates is automatically renewed for another year at the app’s regular pricing. If you choose to cancel the automatic renewal, you can continue using the version of our app that you last had, forever… (no pressure, we don’t limit the app’s functionality if your updates have expired). You can read more about licensing model here.
