Blog (Microblog Template) and adding filters

Hi All

I just started in Elements and love it. Have been using Sparkle (Sitely) and Blocs, I really like Elements’ approach somewhere in between both tools.

I am just setting up a blog-like website based on the Microblog Template. I also read f.e. this post.

Now my question ist, how can I add kind of a filter or tagging feature like in normal Blog? The Idea is, to add f.e. Cities and Places as Tags in every article ane let people filter based on this keywords. How does this classic and ancient  blog-feature work here in Elements? Any ideas?

Thank you already for any suggestion …

Don’t thank me I had no input into it all!

I am filtering my blog by tags and passing them through the URL.

Here is the full unfiltered blog - Christ 2R Culture - Sermon Archive

Here is the option to filter it, passing a tag through the URL - Christ 2R Culture - Sermons By Series

Hope that helps.

Sometimes the messanger is worth a thank you

nice work Kurt @Christ2RCulture

I don’t want to bother you to give me a complete tutorial. If possible time wise, could you please provide a few words or a screen recording/screenshot (no voice needed) on how you added those filters to the navigation, and got images as previews on the landing pages? —As I am new to this different approach to CMS, just watching all the tutorials and reading the PDF above. … Much appreciated

Michael thats why they most probably get shot!

Sorry for the tardy reply. As for the blog, I downloaded the Maximillian template. RapidWeaver Addon Marketplace It gave me an excellent head start.

As for how to filter the blog entry via a tag, I notice that as an option in elements. CleanShot 2026-02-06 at 10.01.33 · CleanShot Cloud Then I created a URL with a tag at the end of it and linked my graphics to it. CleanShot 2026-02-06 at 10.03.25 · CleanShot Cloud

I’m afraid I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around this yet.

Would it be possible to provide a simple example project via Elements Cloud? It doesn’t need to be graphical or polished – just something minimal to help with understanding.

If possible, please use a new project, as the Maximillian template is a paid project.

Thanks a lot for your time and effort.

At the moment, I don’t have the time to put together a sample project, but it is simple.

  1. Make sure you specify tags in the frontmatter of your CMS Markdown file. CleanShot 2026-02-06 at 13.07.33 · CleanShot Cloud
  2. When you call the page that you use to display your blog, add “?tags=tagname” at the end of the URL (tagname is the name of a tag you specified in the frontmatter.) That will filter the blog, only displaying the blog entries with that tag.CleanShot 2026-02-06 at 13.08.05 · CleanShot Cloud
