CartLoom Fees Query

Folks,

Could someone answer me a quick CartLoom question, please - I did try the support email but haven’t got a reply?

Assuming I have a Cartloom 4 Pro Plan. If someone buys from my website and decides to pay with PayPal, Cartloom collect 2.9% of the purchase price +30c, then PayPal take their usual chunk on top of that?

Is that how it works?

Many thanks in advance.

Gavin

Yes I think that’s right @dudeneyge - if you take the free plan.
If you join the Cartloom Plus or Pro plan then you only need to pay the PayPal % on the transaction.
This is a great deal if you start to sell over maybe $1,000 per month …

But the extra % is ok at the beginning to just get going.

Michael,

Thanks - the devil is in the details for me - I’m happy to pay a monthly sub for a good service, decent receipts and invoices, etc., but I don’t want to lose another 2.9% on top of that - so I really need to understand the structure before I buy in.

What I don’t want to be paying is $29 / month + 2.9% of every fee + 30c + PayPal’s cut - that extra 2.9% would make a difference to me over the year. Sadly, the documentation is mostly 404 on the website (which doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence) and nobody from support has got back to me - so I’m still not 100% sure.

Gavin,

I will try and break it down …

If you are using the the Free plan, then this is what you pay.

Credit Card payments will be 4.9% + $.30 per transaction.

Of this amount, 2% pays Cartloom and 2.9% + $.30 pays the credit card company.

If the buyer uses PayPal to pay, then you pay Cartloom 2% + you pay Paypal whatever their current fees are.

The 2% is how Cartloom gets paid. This is great deal if you do not sell over $1000 each month.

If you do sell at least that much, then the Plus or Pro plan is a better option. Those plans allow you to use a gateway of your choice and pay them the fees ( which are usually close to the 2.9% that you would pay with Cartloom Pay ).

Does this make things clearer?

Hi,

And thanks for your time. I’m feeling particularly stupid with all this.

Are these scenarios - assuming a purchaser based in the UK (for comparative PayPal data) right?

My Current Scenario using PayPal

  1. The client pays PayPal £195.00 using a credit or debit card
  2. PayPal pays me £188.17

PayPal Scenario Using Cartloom Free Plan

  1. My client uses Cartloom to pay me £195.00, checking out with PayPal, using a credit or debit card
  2. PayPal receive £195.00 and pay me £188.17
  3. Cartloom charges me 2% (processing fee) of £195.00 = £3.90

PayPal Scenario Using Cartloom Pro Plan

  1. I pay a monthly fee of $29 to Cartloom
  2. My client uses Cartloom to pay me £195.00, checking out with PayPal, using a credit or debit card
  3. PayPal receive £195.00 and pay me £188.17
  4. Cartloom doesn’t charge me anything extra?

Cartloom Pay Scenario Using Cartloom Pro Plan

  1. I pay a monthly fee of $29 to Cartloom
  2. My client uses Cartloom to pay me £195.00, checking out with Cartloom Pay, using a credit or debit card
  3. I receive £195 - (Cartloom charge of £5.66 + $0.30)

Are those right?

Thanks in advance,

Gavin

Gavin,

If I read it all correctly, I think you got it. All sounds correct.

Also, if you want, you can use other payment gateways like AuhtorizeNet and Stripe with the Pro and Plus plans ( instead of CL Pay ).

Thanks

And apologies for being so slow - not sure what happened there!

Gavin

Nice breakdown with a solid example!
