This week I give a brief update on how the inline text editing is progressing (we still have more to do, but it’s looking good), along with a deep-dive into the all new Light and Dark Mode support
I’ve never used anything that makes it as easy (and flexible) as Elements to build a site that supports both Dark and Light mode. Watch the video below to see how this awesome new feature works!
P.S. We’re aiming to release a new beta with these new features and more next week🤞
Thanks as always…
We’re listening to all your feedback and working super hard to make Elements the perfect website builder.
If the light and dark mode colour choices were specified in a ‘global’ I assume they would automatically be carried to every place where that global was used on the site, reducing the need to set the colours for the various modes repeatedly (unless the value was overridden)?
Also, would it be worth considering (post v1.0) adding dark variants of each colour of a theme? This way you could theoretically have a dark made available without having to go and set each variant yourself (I’m notoriously lazy)? ie: ‘text’ would have both light and dark colours/shades, as would ‘surface’, and every other named colour included in the theme. I’d assume the majority of the time these would just default to inverse values of the same colour, ie: text/surface = (light) 90% → 10%, 10% → 90% (dark).
Yes, exactly. I actually do this in the template(s) I’m building
Yes, possibly. Another way to tackle it would be for the components you drop on the page to already have a dark and light colour specified. I’m thinking Containers and Text mainly. This would get you there 90% of the way right out of the box
Hi Dan & team, I have been offline for some time and am catching up with the dev diaries. Just as an encouragement from my side, I think that you are all doing a great job and making Elements really amazing. I know there are tons of opinions and suggestions to work through.
Keep us the great work and looking forward to the ‘final’ product.
