Hi Dan, and all, now that Ecwid has been acquired by Lightspeed and they are and will compete against rapidweaver are you going to add an e-commerce to elements?
Ecwid was a good shopping cart, but it will become expensive as Lightspeed has kicked of all Ecwid resellers and making them affiliates and as such has taken many Ecwid reseller clients and will also increase the pricing as it has with other acquired apps.
Any advice and thoughts on this will be appreciated , Now with the new elements dev packs one of the developers will take on the task of creating a really good plugin dev pack
I have changed to cartloom it integrates well with just about anything
You’re absolutely right about the changes with Ecwid post-acquisition by Lightspeed. Their shift in pricing and reseller policies is bound to cause some issues.
With the new Element dev packs, there’s definitely an opportunity for someone to create a fantastic e-commerce solution tailored to Elements. Whether that’s integrating Shopify, PayPal, or another platform, I think we’ll see a lot of options start to emerge next year!
Reflow looks pretty cool Getting Started | Reflow. I think @RicardoR mentioned they were planning on bringing something regarding Reflow to Elements.
Stripe also has an embeddable cart/checkout Stripe Checkout | Checkout Pages for Your Website
And PayPal as well Shopping Cart Software for eCommerce Websites - PayPal
Cartloom has been around for a long while and can be embedded on an Elements site.
There will be a lot of shopping cart/eCommerce solutions for Elements in due time.
That’s a long wait does not solve the issue with Ecwid users who will suffer now.
Don’t get me wrong Ecwid was and is a very good solution. My suggestion if any developer out there is looking to move on this e-commerce solution /plugin/addon, don’t hesitate as you will be rewarded if you come up with a really good solution, Cartloom is very basic addon. this could be great opportunity to grab the Shopify market as they are gready and charge way to much. as Paul Getty said just give me 1% of the action .
What are you looking for in an Ecommerce solution? (there’s a lot of pre-built one’s out there that can easily slot into any website builder).
Do you just need some “buy buttons” on your site, or do you want a full blown store, with site wide shopping cart?
I have a working custom component that @dan helped me create using the Buy Button code one can get for an Ecwid product and it works just fine. Allows entry of the STORE ID and PRODUCT ID. When selected in the browser it will display the options for the product and place it in an Ecwid cart. Only takes the entry of two pieces of data to allow something to be sold through Ecwid. Of course you have to build something to show all the product details, although the code snippet can be setup to handle that as well. The custom component I have though does not do this but could easily be changed to handle it.
I am still planning to port Reflow to Elements, but I need to understand the Elements API better.
I for one am really looking forward to seeing your support for Reflow in Elements. I have your stacks for both Ecwid and Reflow in Classic. I hope to see both available on Elements. I for one will hand over my money instantly.
Keep us posted.
Looks like Vibracart is a goer
Yes, Vibracart goes well with Element. It is easy to installation. You must I set a few HTML-codes which is Well dokumentet in Vibracarts Manuel.
I could do it not knowing to write HTML. And it works!
Best of all it’s not a subscription
