Getting 403 Error When Attempting to Download an .exe File

I have added a new page so clients can download RustDesk quick support file located in the resources folder.

The two Mac .dmg files download with no problem when clicking on the link for each of the related files.

Clicking on the link for the Windows .exe file, a new page pops up, and displays the error:

I found several posts about modifying the .htaccess, but I am not seeing exactly what to modify in my file as the posts don’t line up with .htaccess file.

I have also re-set folder permissions to 755 and files to 644.

Tried different browsers on both Mac and Windows machines.

I am sure it is something simple I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @apelouze

Probably because Window’s built-in malware protection blocks it because that seems like a malware file (I’ve also removed the link because it looks sketchy).

I get the same result on a Mac with more than one browser.

It’s something you’d really have to ask your web hosting provider. Perhaps they are blocking .exe files on their servers due to the potential for abuse/malware/etc.
