Is blocks still used widely? Or might it be the time to lay it to rest? It really do not know as I did not use blocks …
I mostly keep those older plugins around as maintenance for existing users that are stuck on older versions and older OSs. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to use fixed layout tools in a responsive world – but it also takes almost no effort to maintain them.
But we did (quietly) stop selling and eventually remove from our site a few plugins that became too much to maintain.
We actually transferred the php in one of those to a user here on the forums. Rapidblog alternative Marc took it and built a new stack from the code!!! Amazing. And a new life for RapidBlog. I mentioned it to John (LogHound) and I think the overall feeling is that we both couldn’t be any more pleased. So happy to give that code to a new home.
