Instagram Feed Stack - Are they all working?

That is a guess, but wrong. Joe has not heard back from the Instagram people

This is the stack I was using (on about 200 pages) when I noticed it stopped working on 1st June. Contacted the developer 1LD and he was very quick to reply and issue an update but it is much more limited now in what it can do. Shame about the API changing it’s really restricted what developers are able to offer.

That bodes well for a post June 1 fix.
What sort of things did you lose in functionality?

As far as I know you can’t load public posts/images and no images with tags (using the search feature) anymore. Only your own images can be loaded with the new API.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Whoa 200 pages, I only have it on 1. Waiting for @1LittleDesigner to reply to my support ticket hopefully they update their instagram stacks page with new tutorial on how to setup

@rolisize Instagram changed their API causing our stack to crash, but we are working on fix right now and hope to have this fixed shortly.

All good news to hear. I only have about 6 images on the homepage of one of the sites I do. I would hate to lose these as it is a nice way to churn fresh pics, and also call attention to the Instagram feed. I used to have a desire to be able to pull in a certain # in a feed, but I would be happy if I could get the most recent pics again.

I just downloaded Joe Workmans QuickPics, but dont see where to input my instagram acct info?? I went ahead and published as suggested in the FAQ and nothing.

When you publish and go to the published page (it will change the filename from html to php, so if your page was html before, it will be php now and you will have to remove the html file from your server as RapidWeaver does not do this) and have to click on a link to activate your account on that page.

We’ll definitely be able to get your feed - still looking into keeping the hashtag feature, but there could be more of process to bringing that back in. I should have an update soon too.

Was it a big fix? Or basically just a new permissions review?

It’s a pretty big fix - not just a matter of getting permission or a new API key.

Sorry to hear that. I think Yuzool is looking into it for their stack. Not sure if StacksforStacks is updating StackManiacs stack or not, I took a quick look and did not see it on their site (easily could have missed it).

Did I read it correctly above that no images with hashtags can be used?? Or, did that mean you could not pull hashtags from a specific user?

The biggest change is that you can’t put in your feed photos that you don’t own. So the photo can definitely still have hashtags, but you can’t pull in images based on a hashtag across all of Instagram. I’m still in the development process right now too, so I should have more details soon.

That is a relief. I am only pulling in my own feed pics.
If you could pull in a hashtag from your own feed, that would be great (instead of just showing the most recent ones).
thanks!

I definitely agree - it’s a bummer to lose some features, so I’m hoping to try and figure a way to add in a few new features with the update. I’ll be a bit limited to their API, but that’s definitely something that I had on my list.

Changes to the Instagram API on 1st June 2016 and how to get the InstaViewer stack working again:

  1. Download the InstaViewer 2.1 update and install it
  2. Go to Instagram in your web browser. Login and make sure any ad-blockers are disabled (VERY IMPORTANT).
  3. Go to this website http://instagram.pixelunion.net/ and click the button to create a new Access Token
  4. A page on Instagram will load asking for confirmation to create a new PXU Access Token. Click ā€˜Authorise’
  5. The page will refresh an a new token is shown.
  6. The first 9 numbers before the full stop (.) are your user ID. Carefully copy and paste these into the user ID field within InstaViewer
  7. Copy and paste the entire token (including the first 9 numbers of your user ID) into the Token field, within InstaViewer
  8. Switch RapidWeaver into preview mode and check you can view your images and they open in lightboxes

An example user ID would look like this:
1455546637

And an example user token would look like this:
1455546637.1677ed0.fc7f2f227ebb41fa90b5580dfc74357e

As of 1st June 2016, Instagram / Facebook only let you embed a maximum of 20 images from your own feed. This means that only the last 20 images you uploaded to Instagram will show. You can no longer display images that other people have uploaded / shared with you or show images by tags or search keywords. A maximum of 500 website visitors are permitted to view your InstaViewer page each hour. These are limitations imposed by Instagram, not the InstaViewer stack.

If you use CloudFlare on your website, purge your cache after applying the update and republishing the page.

Flickrgram Instagram stack is now updated to work with these API changes:

Using this stack with no success I’m afraid!

Yep, it looked like developer was close to an update, but no news yet. Don’t really feel like buying another instagram stack…
