When I drag a portrait image into stacks it becomes landscape, Can’t find out how to rotate.

You may need to go to that stack’s settings in the Inspector and make sure that settings for max-width and max-hight are not improperly set. Constraining those dimensions improperly may distort the size and shape of your photo. To get to those settings double-click on the image – after placing it inside your stack.
