SnippetsLab – Markdown Editor

Hi all,

I know that all of the big editors support it one way or another, but I recently found SnippetsLab on the Appstore. It’s probably old news now but I thought it has a really nice GUI and is a great place to store lots of MD if needed. It also syncs with iCloud.

Just thought I’d mention.

Best,
Michael

Nifty little app, and it’s also great to collect Tailwind snippets, and Element CMS syntax in!

It is a nice Snippet Manager, I picked it up a long time ago when it was a paid product. The developer switched it over to a Free product which was very generous of him, I think he didn’t have the time to work on it much anymore which is why he made it free.

Still works great though and it’s very powerful. It’s handy for storing all kinds of things, not just snippets.

Thanks for sharing it on the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes I have used it for a long time. It is very useful.

The developer was always very responsive and added in the Lock Editing feature which I requested; too many times I inadvertently edited something I didn’t want to!

Ah I see, thanks for giving me the history. From looking at it I was surprised it was free as it’s a very polished app - rather like Elements

Probably not so relevant (I’m still dabbling with various tools in my hunt for a dev environment to use in future) - I found OrbStack. It is a great alternative to Docker. I was trying to spin up some of my legacy web projects over the weekend and Docker just killed my enthusiasm for trying. It was clunky and quite slow. With a huge dollop of ChatGPT, I finally figured out how to get them working with some nice OrbStack containers!

Unfortunately, I know enough to be dangerous, hence why I’m here and hoping that Elements can be the answer to my prayers for relatively painless website building without me doing any more damage to my Mac!

Best,
Michael

Orbstack (also using it) is a great alternative to Docker Desktop on Apple Silicon Macs if you want to spin up some containers or local Linux VMs.

If you are looking to set up a local web developer environment though for your Elements websites, you might give https://www.servbay.com/ a try. I think Servbay would be better suited to that kind of work than Orbstack. Servbay also has a free tier which can do most things you probably would need to do. :slightly_smiling_face:

Both would work though, whatever you are comfortable using.

Happy Elementing!
