I am doing my best to have my websites GDPR-compliant, and am using CookieManager with Gateway from Stacks4Stacks (and I would recommend both).
One issue though: upon inspecting one of my sites, I found a cookie called udig coming from Unsplash.
When I contacted Unsplash to ask what this cookie does or collects, they were not the most helpful and just directed me to their privacy policy, wherein they have this to say about cookies:
“Cookies are small bits of information that are automatically stored on the web browser of your device that can be retrieved by us. The type of information we collect includes, but is not limited to, uniquely identifying visitor information and information related to your usage preferences. We use these technologies to help us recognize you as a user, collect information about your use of the Unsplash Services to better customize our services and content for you. By using the Unsplash Services, you acknowledge and agree that we may collect and/or transmit any data collected to our third-party service providers, such as analytics providers, which may also make use of such technologies described above. Please note that if you block or delete cookies you will not be able to use some or all of the Unsplash Services.”
…which is quite vague and not very helpful for me in writing a GDPR-compliant privacy policy for my client.
The nature of CookiesManager is that it blocks any scripts from loading before the user has consented to the use of cookies, but in order to do so it requires you to add the parts of the site employing cookies into an If True (if cookies enabled) stack. My issue here is that I am not sure what part of the site I would need to add here.
So, can anyone can tell me what this cookie is doing, and/or where it is coming from??
Any help is greatly appreciated!
