I’m trying to put 2 or 3 pictures side by side. If I use a 2 or 3 column stack they have a different height even if they are same pixel wise.
There is probably a stack out there that will do the trick?
This is probably a newbie question. Sorry.
Thanks for your help.
Hi @kickstarter it’s not easy to guess what you exactly want. We need more detail about your config, your photo format, framework… I can try to guess : so I would use a grid with a picture stack in each place. I’d verify width and height of the stacks. But maybe I don’t guess well
Hi Bruno, thanks for your answer. Sorry for not describing my problem precisely.

I have a single page with photos, some of which should take up the full width, followed by 2 or 3 smaller ones below in one row. Together they are supposed to be as wide as the picture above.
I can manage with a 2 columns stack but if I take a 3 columns stack, I can never make sure that the images align at the top and the bottom by setting the relative width.
All this would be much easier if the images had the same aspect ratios. Like for a grid. Unfortunately, they don’t.
Hi, ok. I see two ways to proceed: a good one and a not good one at all. I start with the one I use: I prepare my images in relation to the layout I want to obtain, in particular with the chosen ratio. This gives me great flexibility afterwards.
Otherwise, it is possible to use height “equalizers” but this will be to the detriment of either the appearance of the image (inelegant cropping) or a loss of responsiveness when the screen size changes or… an image is not like “equalized” text.
In short, I advise you to first prepare your images and then integrate them, this will prevent the problems I mentioned. Here the problem comes from ratio aspect more than “brut” size.
Even if you want to use grid like Masonry from Stacks4stacks or Flux from Elixirgraphics you’ll have to prepare your pictures. I know it’s not exactly what you hoped to hear but it’s unfortunately the problem I encountered many years ago.
Thank you Bruno.
I did prepare my pictures with the same height but that does not help a lot. These pictures were sent to me by the client so I can’t crop them like I want them just to fit in a grid.
So I don’t see any other way that would preserve the original appearance of the photo except to fill the “gaps” with something (color, pattern…). I think that it won’t be very aesthetic. Sorry no to bring better news.
