Armadillo blog - error message on set up with RW Foundation

Hello,
I hope somebody can help me with this armadillo issue, I sent a request through the armadillo contact form and NimbleHost support, but did not get any answer. My problem: after publishing armadillo and clicking the link (at https://proteinstructures.com/armadillo/) for finishing the set up I get the following message:
Deprecated: Function get_magic_quotes_gpc() is deprecated in /customers/c/0/8/proteinstructures.com/httpd.www/rw_common/plugins/stacks/armadillo/core/model/Armadillo_Dashboard.php on line 3 //proteinstructures.com/rw_common/plugins/stacks/armadillo/index.php/setup/

I have no idea what this means, may be somebody has already had this problem before?

I get an error on https://proteinstructures.com/rw_common/plugins/stacks/armadillo/index.php/

But not on https://proteinstructures.com/rw_common/plugins/stacks/armadillo/index.php/setup/

Note the /setup/ bit.

Maybe a PHP version issue?

As much as I was a fan of Armadillo, Iā€™m not sure if the dev is still active, and for sure there have been more threads cropping up with reports of issues and no response to support requests. So maybe itā€™s time to find an alternative?

Iā€™ll tag @nimblehost in case he is still around.

I will say that Iā€™ve never had issue with Armadillo or Nimblehost, so this might just be an issue of timing on his behalf.

If you do decide to go a different route I can very much recommend Alloy from @Elixir Iā€™ve started working with it recently and itā€™s excellent. It will require a switch to Foundry though.

TCMS is from the same developer as Foundation and is also highly recommended by users, although Iā€™ve no experience of it.

Have a read of this thread - Contact form does not work with PHP 8.0

Check to see if your web server is running PHP 8.0 and if it is, try reverting to 7.4 and see if that solves the problem.

Thanks a lot, I switched to 7.4, the result is the same. It is not really the contact form, armadillo requires finishing the setup after publishing the stack, attempt to follow the setup link invokes that strange response.

I used your link for the setup, it worked to the stage when the setup was supposed to finish, and then I got the same message with more details.
I have armadillo installed on another site and it works fine with Foundation.
For now I think I will switch to TCMS, I used it a bit earlier on another site. At least the developer is there & active & may always be contacted. Switching to Foundry will be too much work, I guess.

Jonathan @nimblehost is still active and has been replying to requests for help.

You can also checkout goCMS, if you want a replacement that isnā€™t licensed per domain.

It appears no way to purchase go CMS, when trying to do this on the web page I get ā€œItem no longer availableā€! I sent them a help request.

I know itā€™s not a contact form, but in both instances, the ā€˜get_magic_quotesā€™ error appeared so I wondered if it was the same culprit.

Just give @nimblehost a bit of time and Iā€™m sure heā€™ll get back to you.

To bad youā€™re not selling it anymore itā€™s a great easy setup and use product.

This particular error was fixed in v2.9.5 of Armadillo (current version is v2.9.8). As noted in other threads of the forum updating to the latest version and performing a full re-publish will fix the problem.

And to quell any uncertainty on the topic, yes I am still active - being a one man shop with an additional full time job, there are occasions when it can take me more time to respond to support requests than I would like.
