I have a client who wants to be able to use ‘seasonal’ effects on her website, so in winter just a sprinkling of snowflakes floating down the page for a minute or so, then hearts at valentines, that sort of thing.
I am using Joe Workmans “Let it snow” stack on the first page of this site during winter: http://www.ristorante-calimero.de
I have used a FontAwesome icon for the snowflakes by simply using <i class="fa fa-asterisk"> instead of “*” or similar “normal” symbols (I had to also add a FontAwesome stack to enable FontAwesome for the theme I’ve been using). This way you can choose any icon from the FontAwesome website.
Just a heads up, Joe just updated Let It Snow so it contains Font Awesome code in it. So if your theme does not include Font Awesome, you no longer need to add a Font Awesome stack to the page.
Some other cool updates, it will work with Total CMS toggle stack so if you have it on a site with Total CMS, your client can turn on or off the snow/icons.
It is now also configurable with Joe’s Tardis Stack
Let It Snow worked when I updated it and set snowflakes to hearts, colors to red, and previewed. Hearts falling. Then when I changed the auto start/stop times to Valentines Day only, it stopped working. Even when I toggle auto start/stop off. Any suggestions?
