CSS and Javascript Minification

Hi,
I’m thinking of upgrading to the new version of rapid weaver. I’m quite happy with my existing version as it i nice and stable, but CSS and Javascript Magnification appeals to me. Is this a significant improvement over the previous consolidate CSS setting?

My understanding of CSS/Javascipt Minification is that is simply removes extra blank lines from the code (and possibly comments.)
